Google SketchUp 7 Create 3D models and share them with the world Google SketchUp is software that you can use to create 3D models of anything you like. Build models and add them to Google Earth Get started right away. Most people get rolling with SketchUp in just a few minutes. Dozens of video tutorials, an extensive Help Center and a worldwide user community mean that anyone who wants to make 3D models with SketchUp, can. *You will have 30 minutes to get your hands on one of the google tools. move around work with a buddy.. get familiar with one .. *Now comes the fun part.. and it was very very hard to decide which 10 I would share.. so I did canvas my kids at school for their suggestions.. *Wordle is a program that allows the kids to paste text into the website and create instant "word clouds". It is an amazing tool that then takes the pasted text and removes the articles of speech and analyzes the remaining words for frequency - making the ones that appear most often the largest. You can randomize the content as many times as you like and it really does an effective job of showing the theme of a document, essay, or poem. A simple and really amazing tool that the kids and I both love! We just finished Mother's Day gifts..Famous Woman / Inventors / State reports/ .. save as a jpg. and place on the ppt., blog , or wiki report. *AnimotoDo you get into the music videos?? I know my students do.. and this site caught on real fast!is an amazing tool that allows teachers or students to create multimedia presentations that are simple to make and really cool to watch. You just upload pictures, upload a song (or select from their extensive CC licensed music) and then Viola! You have an instant music video. Now you can even add text and choose pictures to highlight. There is even an iPhone app that allows you to create a presentation from the pictures stored on your phone.*Avatars... something I wanted my students to understand and use.. At first we used Kidspiration.. but then I came across this art web tool. Think Draw is the latest website in the family of JigSawDoku and Web Sudoku - the world's most popular Sudoku website.Somewhere between art and a puzzle, Think Draw lets you create original and fun pictures using different shapes. It exercises the creative parts of your brain, just like Sudoku uses the logical side. These are the themes available to create your pictures: FlowersFruitAvatarsGothicCandyAnimalsBeads*Another fun ART web tool.. Bomomo is a website that allows the user to create very interesting works of modern art. With a simple to use graphical interface, this is a great way to teach students about art or to just have some fun.* Pic Lits PicLits is a creative writing site that matches images with carefully selected keywords in order to inspire. The site allows students to put the right words in the right place and the right order to capture the essence, story, and meaning of the picture. This is a great website to use with English, ESL, and even Foreign Language classes. *Word Magnets is a simple to use web tool that will take a piece of text and break it into individual magnets which can be moved around the screen, resized, removed, color coded, grouped, sorted and so on. New magnets can also be added at any point. This is a great tool to use with sequencing, language study, and can be molded to fit many areas of the curriculum.Wall Wisher is a web tool that allows you to have an interactive cork board. Imagine the ability to post notes with reminders about class trips, even the PDF file for the permission slip, as well as photos and other great items for your peers and students? Wall Wisher is simple to use and can be shared or kept private. It is an easy way to share a workspace either with students or colleagues. *StoryJumper is a website that allows students to build their own books. Users can easily create cover pages, add text, upload drawings or photos to illustrate their story, and can use the StoryJumper clipart gallery, too. When they finish, the stories can be viewed online or ordered as a professionally published hardback book! The site functions similarly to Picture Book Maker. It would be great for many young students to practice their writing skills. *Digital Posters... Glogster, which has also an educational program, is a site that allows users to create a digital poster with any text, images, movies, sounds, ect. It is a nice way for students to create project posters in a much easier way than the traditional cut and paste. These "glogs" can also be shared via popular social networks. The educational site allows teachers to create user names for the students and keeps the class work private from the rest of the site.*MapSkip makes the world a canvas for our stories and photos. We love to share our life stories with others, and it is an age old process as the paintings and hand prints in stone-age caves show. And many of our stories are about places. Where we fell in love, had the dream vacation, took that great picture... And then there are the many other places that anchor our lives - where we live, eat, work and have fun. Join the MapSkip community in exploring the world through shared stories and pictures about all the places in our lives. This is a great way to share class stories.. and/ or research writing done by your students..News items current events.. *Voice Threads is a site that transforms media into collaborative spaces with video, voice, and text commenting. Nice and easy way to create multimedia work spaces for you to share with your peers or students.
