Top 10 Favorite Shoe Brands

By: Olivia Starnes and Maham Shahbaz

To find out what the the top 10 favorite shoe brands are, we decided to ask a

few 6th graders, at our school, what their two favorite shoe brands are. So here’s

what they have picked!

Our most like shoe brand turned out to be none other than Nike. 38% of the

shoes sold are manufactured by the Nike company! They’re said to be the most

successful company in the markets and the world!

Our second most favorite shoe brand, picked by 6th graders, is Under

Armour. It was founded or started in 1995 when Kevin Plank, a football player on

the football team at the university of Maryland, noticed that their cotton shirts get

really soaked with sweat. And that’s when he thought,”There has to be something

better.”

Our next most like brand was the basketball shoes of Michael Jordan, Air

Jordans. Nike decided to persuade Michael Jordan into signing a five-year 2.5

million dollar contract, which would include his own line of shoes. Nike decided to

do that because other brands such as, Adidas and Converse had signed contracts

with other basketball players.

On fourth comes converse. They first started making their shoes in 1908 as a

rubber shoe company. Later they named their canvas basketball sneakers the “All

Stars”, because they were meant for more than just basketball.

One fifth comes Vans. When they were first made in 1996, they were meant

for skateboarders, BMX riders, snowboarders, and for people who preferred casual

footwear.

Next are famous basketball player, Lebron James, shoes. Lebron James has

always liked Nike shoes. In 2014, his shoes outsold any other NBA player! His

shoes made 340 million dollars while, in second place, KD’s made only 195

million!

In 7th place are Toms. Toms are sold at more than 500 different stores

nationwide! One thing you probably didn't know is that they are made from

recycled materials!

Coming on to number 8. Ariats are boots. They are meant for riding and for

working outdoors.

On number nine is Red Wing. Red wing is a type of boot. It was invented by

Charles Beckman, a shoe merchant, in Red Wing, Minnesota, in the year 1905.

Lastly comes Wranglers. Wranglers are a type of boot. They have been

around for more than 60 years.

So those are the top 10 favorite shoe brands! Thanks to the 6th graders for

telling us their opinions! For more on these types of shoes you can go on the sites
