The Reflections Report
Section 1: Project Summary (Length of section depends on the number of events)
This is a description of your team’s view of the success or failure of its project
and Cornerstone experience. This section should be concisely written in
paragraph format with bullet points used to list supporting points or quantitative
data. Suggested format is provided at the beginning of each requirement.
This section should contain the following subsections, marked by appropriate sub-
headings:
A. Client and Client’s Mission: Our client is Fallin Pines Critter Rescue, and our
contact person and project coordinator is Shirley Cannan. The scope of our client’s
business is local. Fallin Pines is an Orlando wildlife refuge center. They help
Orange and Seminole county animal services by taking in all types of exotic, farm,
and wildlife animals. These animals mostly came from exotic animal trades and
were later abandoned or unwanted by their owners. Our client’s mission statement
is: “to rescue unwanted or displaced exotic, domestic and farm animals, reptiles
and birds to place them in loving homes or to give the handicapped or unadoptable
animals a permanent home. The social service provided by Fallin Pines is to help
animals that technically don’t belong in the wild here in Orlando or ones that are
unwanted by giving them somewhere to live, and if able to, giving them to families.
B. Project’s SMART Goal: Our project objective was to raise $850 by April 1, 2015
for Fallin Pines Critter Rescue through six different events. The sustainable impact
of our donation to our client is that this money will go towards buying and building
two new sheds. With these sheds, the client will be able to update the areas the
animals live in now and have more room to store their food, supplies, etc. This will
improve the overall quality of life for the animals and quality of the facility.
C.
Tally of Total Funds Raised: Wild Knights 2015 raised a total of $810.74. Our
team acquired $468.74 in checks, and $342 in cash to donate to our client Fallin’
Pines Critter Rescue. Every group member did help in earning money for each
event, this chart just shows the total raised for the event that each person held.

• For the event Coffee Time, we purchased coffee and supplies costing us $19.50.
After refunding Jay the event brought in a total of 5 dollars.
• The Business Letters event was per profit. We sent out letters to local businesses
in hopes of them sponsoring an animal. From this we earned $25.
• The event Party at Emely’s raised a total of $96 by having people donate money
for dinner on the pool deck.
• The Go Fund me event earned $266 but after the company took our 7% for every
donation, we only raised $238.74
• Getting Down at ONO was per profit. We charged an entrance fee of $10 per
person.
• For the Event Raffle BBQ, we purchased a gift card for $50. After refunding
Jessica the event brought in a total of $335.
D. Expected Goals versus Actual Outcome: Displayed below is a graph of our expected
amount raised per event and the actual outcome of each event.

Title: Go Fund Me
Name of event project manager: Peng Zhang
B. Go Fund Me account register would be completed by February 12th, and will result
fund with a total from $250-$500 dollars by April 1st.
C. I planned to raise from at least $250 and up, the actual outcome is $238.74($266-
(7.9%+0.30 per donation). My goal is 95% accomplished.
D. Photo.
E. a) Things I feel contributed to the team’s success are creating the Go Fund Me account
and share it through FB, and told my parents and friends about it. Every team member
helped me with this event, and I know it wouldn’t be success without their support.

b) Most significant business skill I used to complete this event was promoting the
fundraising campaign, therefore more people would know it and help. Also, cooperate is
important for any team work.
A. Event number: 2
Title: Business Donation Letters
Project Manager: Hannah Bachman
B. The business donation letters would raise $100 by April 1, 2015 through mailing out
donation letters for Fallin Pines Critter Rescue.
C. The planned outcome was $100, and the actual outcome was only $25, or 25% or the
goal.
D.
There were no photos for mailing out letters.
E. From this event, I learned how important it is to place follow up calls to businesses. A
lot of times, businesses get so busy with their day to day activities that donations are a
last priority. Calling a company to remind them of your plea for a donation, brings it to
the forefront of their mind again. I believe following up is also an important business
skill. It’s important to be persistent when asking for help from other people; not
annoying, but persistent. I believe if our team had each focused more on quality of
letters and follow ups versus quantity of mailing letters out that we would have met our
goal for this project. I do believe that our letters were of a good quality and I had
significant help from my team members; so, I account the failure in reaching our goal
to not doing enough follow up calls and emails.
A. Event Number: 3A
Title: Car Wash for Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue
Project Manager: Emely Grullon
B. SMART Objective: The Car Wash for Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue was to be
completed by March 15th 2015 at Sam’s Club and would result in having washed 15 cars
to end up with a total of $300 after having our earnings matched by Sam’s Club.
C. The car washed hoped to raise $300, but due to the cancellation of the event, we did
not receive any funds from it.
8/18/2019 WildKnights Final Reflection Paper.pdf
6/23
E. I feel reaching out to Sam’s Club from the very first week of class, in person and
phone, could have resulted in the car wash being implemented since Sam’s Club never
reached back out to my team and I. From this event cancellation I have learned two
significant business skills, persistence and timing. If I could have reached out a few
weeks prior and showing persistence by showing up to Sam’s Club to speak with the
marketing managers a couple of times per week, this event may have happened.
A. Event Number: 3B
Title: BBQ for Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue
Project Manager: Emely Grullon
B. SMART Objective: The BBQ for Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue was to be implemented
on Sunday March 22 2015 at West Lake Apartments. The BBQ would raise $70 in
donations, as well as raise awareness for Fallin’ Pines Critter Rescue.
C. The BBQ hoped to raise $70 in donations but ended up raising $86
E. This event was a great learning experience and brought people together for a good
cause. I feel that I am reaching out to my family members and letting it be known that the
BBQ was specifically for Fallin’ Pines really made a difference in getting people to
donate. After explaining the cause, everyone at the BBQ began to donate. Not only did
we over achieve our goal, the event was extremely fun and brought together some of our
team members and raised awareness for Fallin’ Pines. The most significant business skill
I used to complete this event is clarity. In being clear with my family and friends on
exactly what was expected of them while attending this BBQ, donating to Fallin’ Pines,
we over achieved our goal for this event.
A: Event Number: 4
Title: Raffle BBQ
Project Manager: Jessica Russell
B: The Event Raffle BBQ was held on March 28, and the objective was to raise $50
towards the total of event.
C: For the event Raffle BBQ the goal was to raise $50 through the sale of Raffle tickets
towards a gift card valued at $25 to Sam’s club. We actually raised $335 through this
8/18/2019 WildKnights Final Reflection Paper.pdf
7/23
event, although we did add the BBQ piece of the event to it. We raised 15% more for the
event versus its planned income.
D: Video of us jumping into freezing pool water to raise an extra $500 from our friends.
kangroo.mp4
Hanging out on the pool deck making sure everyone was having fun playing games, and
eating in hopes of them donating more.
E: At the being of this event we thought that we would just end up doing a raffle outside
of Sam’s club for a gift card. Half way through the project though our team realized that
we were going to need to raise more money from each event. I brought up the idea of
attaching a BBQ to my event to raise more money. This idea ended up working and we
brought in a total of $335 from people buying tickets to win the gift card, as well as
paying for food at the BBQ. I feel like this really contributed to our team’s success
because we raised an extra $285 that we didn’t think we would end up having.
The most significant business skill I learned from this event is that when talking to a huge
company in hopes of getting things donated you need to start at the district level of store.
I thought that the store manager would just be able to give us a gift card but unfortunately
everything has to be approved by a district manager. So it is really important to make
sure that you have planned even more time then you originally thought for any situation
that might pop up.
8/18/2019 WildKnights Final Reflection Paper.pdf

A. Event Number: 5
Title: Drink Coffee? Save An Animal!
Project Manager: Jarrod Hodges (Jay)
B. The goal of this particular event was to raise anywhere between $50 and $100, was
conceived and added to the Project Management Plan on February 15th.
C. Planned outcome was at least $50 to add to the overall SMART goal, actual figure was
$10. Cost of supplies were $10 so we broke even on the loss and this event generated 0%
for the overall project.
D. Photo
E. Despite the event being unsuccessful, three of us still got together and made somethinghappen. I personally learned how to deal with rejection and disappointment from
potential and planned vendors. Having a better backup plan for my original plan would've
been ideal since the primary plan to have Dunkin Donuts donate fell through. Promises
and/or verbal agreements don't always follow through, and it must be clear to both sides
what is being agreed upon. Even if we did have that name brand coffee to hand out, the
event still may have not generated a surplus since I also set up the table on the wrong side
of the building. When events appear to fall through at the last minute, we sometimes get
scatterbrained and forget to listen and follow directions. That's what I learned in terms of
keeping my composure and allowing the process to run its course. So even though we
held the event and it wasn't a success, there were positive things to be learned and had
from the 2 hours we were there.
On the positive side we had an opportunity to clear up any confusion and talk about the
8/18/2019 WildKnights Final Reflection Paper.pdf
9/23
project as a whole. We bonded, got to know each other, and at least have a physical event
on the campus so we could see what tabling at UCF even looked and felt like. I learned
that you have to meet many people and tap into several resources when things go wary,
so reaching out was something that occurred quite a bit that day. The silver lining is that
you can learn quite a bit from an unsuccessful event if you put lessons into a certain
perspective. Having a positive attitude and accepting what happened made this event go
better, and using the time wisely rather than wasting it also contributed to shedding some
positive light on the outcome. Next time I will have a more solid backup vendor and
ensure I understand 100% where the original vendor is coming from.
A. Event Number: 6
Event Title Canceled: Wild Knights 2015 Beach Trip to Cocoa Beach
Title of Back-up event: Wild Knights 2015 Night Out to Club Ono
Project Manager: Lionel Galvez
B. Wild Knights 2015 Beach Trip to Cocoa Beach was canceled due to not having 35
students interested to come enjoyed and relaxed a day at the beach for only $20.00. This
event was supposed to be completed by Saturday, March 30th 2015. Our expectation were
to reach a goal of $200.00 after paying off the independent bus driver $500.00. Wild
Knights 2015 Night Out to Club Ono was completed on Wednesday, April 1st 2015. Our
expectation in this event were to reach $80.00. We exceeded a goal of $111.00, resulting
in eight attendees for $10.00 the cover fee.
C. Our group, The Wild Knights 2015 had planned to raised $200.00 through a beach trip
to Cocoa Beach, due for not wanted to take the risk of not breaking even, we had no
choice but to canceled the event. Therefore, we came up with another event Wild Knights
2015 Night Out to Club Ono which generated $80.00. Perfect for what we had planned
in, which was the difference in achieving our goal of $850.00.
8/18/2019 WildKnights Final Reflection Paper.pdf
10/23
D. Photos
E. The reason why the Wild Knights Beach Trip to Cocoa Beach was canceled was
because we really didn’t study the marketing, nor did we do the research for what it takes
to make this event effective. We took everything for granted, assuming college students
were going to be interested in attending our event. We thought it was going to be the
money maker because it sounded pretty fun and epic. Unfortunately, things didn’t run as
planned. There was a lot of planning, adverting, and promotion involved. The risk of
possibly being short was what scared us and made us decided to cancel the beach trip.
The bus rental round trip was very expensive! It would have required at least 25 students
to break-even. I believe if we would have planned this with time (not leaving it for thelast minute) and everyone’s effort we could probably have made this possible. We have
learned from the results of the event that we needed to be organized and that as the
manager of the event, I should have delegated tasks way before the event to every
member of the team. I should have studied the logistics of spreading the message. Maybe
I should it had delegated each member to at least attend one unprofessional school
activity and handed in some flyers and talked about the event. As a manager I should take
into consideration the lack of other team member’s contributions and should have talked
to some managements of local bar and asked for advice, perhaps they could have possibly
helped announce our cause at the bar.

• Shirley showed us one of the sheds we, the UCF Business students bought with
all of our effort and dedication towards preparing a final project.
• Helped Shirley putting together a parrot’s playground, and talked about coming
on summer to volunteer and getting dirty.
