AccordingtotheBureauofLaborStatistics,SupplyChainManagementisprojectedtocontinuetobeoneofthefastestgrowingindustriesforemploymentoverthenexttenyears.The2017Indicator’sReportforLackawannaandLuzerneCounties(TheInstituteforPublicPolicy&EconomicDevelopment,2017)statesthatthelogisticsindustryinoneofthefastestgrowingindustriesinourregion.ThereareasignificantnumberoflogisticsrelatedcompaniesintheNortheasternPennsylvaniacorridor.ThenumberofschoolsintheregionofferingprogramsinSCMisalsogrowing–theUniversityofScrantoncurrentlyoffersaccrediteddegreeandcertificateprogramsinSupplyChainManagement.PennStatebranchcampuseswillrollouttheirdegreeprogramsinSupplyChainManagementinfall2018.ItisthegoaloftheproposaltohavetheSidhuSchooljointhelistofregionalSCMprograms.CAHSSwillbeaffected,inthatEC101andEC102arerequiredcoursesforthisprogram.TheChairandDeanofthisDepartmentandCollegehavebeennotifiedandhaveindicatedtheirsupportoftheproposalbysigninginSection8.Inaddition,aswithanynewundergraduateprogram,allareaswithintheUniversitydistribution(generaleducation)requirementsmustbesatisfied–anillustrationoftheallocationofcoursestosatisfytherequirementsisshownintheprogramchecklist.AttachedtotheendofthisproposalisthestatementfromtheAcademicPlanningCommitteedocumentingtheapprovaloftheproposal.
