What is Eurosail?
Eurosail is a sailing event with teams from European Central Banks and International Financial Organisations based in Europe. Over the past 10 events about 15 different Central Banks and Organisations took part.
The main goal of Eurosail is to bring together sailing teams of different nations to have a fun weekend and make new sailing friends. The members of the sailing teams should have some sailing knowledge but do not have to be experts!
2000 Masurian Lakes, Poland
2001 La Rochelle, France
2002 Stockholm, Sweden 2003 Bodensee, Germany
2004 Cowes, UK (EIB) 2005 Montpellier, France
2007 Ijsselmeer, Netherlands 2009 Sardinia, Italy
2010 Thunersee, Switzerland 2012 Vigo, Spain (EIB)
A few factsEurosail 2015 will take place on Lake Thun, which is situated in central Switzerland at the foot of the famous 4,000m peaks Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Lake Thun is 18km long by 4km wide. The pretty towns of Thun and Interlaken lie at either end of the lake.
Accommodation will be provided in the Hotel Bellevue au Lac in Hilterfingen. From the hotel it is a pleasant 400m walk to the port with our sailing boats.
We have reserved 15 boats, each for teams of three sailors. Each central bank can submit a registration form for up to three teams. However, the first team of each institution has priority, with second and third teams being permitted only if there are available boats. In this case we will follow first-come, first-served criteria for second and third teams, respectively. At the close of the registration period we will confirm the number of teams for each institution.
Participation fee
• Double room CHF 400 per person; triple room CHF 370 per personThis includes sailboats, race organisation, three nights’ accommodation with breakfast, Saturday and Sunday lunch, dinner on Friday and Saturday, award dinner on Sunday, some drinks and transfers from Thun to the hotel.
• Accompanying guests and officials are welcome although no special programme will be arranged. An additional charge of CHF 80 per accompanying person or officials will apply to the above amounts.
While sailing you can enjoy breathtaking views of 4,000m peaks Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau!
