When the Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Gala-

tia, he used some very strong words in an effort to

help them hold to the faith that he had preached re-

garding their walk with Jesus. They had to decide if

they were going to live and walk by faith in Jesus or

hold on to the familiar law, to which they looked for

their salvation.

He begins by saying - after a very gracious greeting,

“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting

the one who called you by the grace of Christ and

are turning to a different gospel -which is really no

gospel at all.” 1:6-7

Later in the letter he reminds them what it’s like to

live in the Spirit, comparing that new life with the old

life of immorality, idolatry, dissensions, factions, en-

vy, drunkenness and the like. 5:19-21

Then he compares that lifestyle with one that is

governed by the Spirit of God and the kind of fruit

that is manifested in the Spirit-filled persons life:

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith-

fulness, gentleness and self-control. 5:22

The real challenge is then stated: “Since we live by

the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” 5:25

Keeping in step with the Holy Spirit of God is the

challenge for each one of us. Why? Because we

have such a tendency to set our own goals, set our

own pace, make our own plans without bothering to

consult the very One who lives in us and whose we

are—body, soul and spirit.

The Lord usually has lessons to teach us from our

life experiences if we will only pay attention.

As many of you know—because I have told you, I

have some issues with my heart functioning as it

should because of chronic heart disease. It endeavors

to set its own rhythm, depending on what its electri-

cal system decides to do. Sometimes too fast, some-

times too slow; sometimes it can’t decide.

This necessitated the installation of a pacemaker in

my upper chest in an effort to remind the heart mus-

cle what the proper rhythm is and for it to get in step

with a healthy heartbeat. The surgery was less than

pleasant, but necessary. The recovery and rehabilita-

tion is sometimes painful, but essential. All in all the

heart is getting the idea that it has to submit to the con-

trol of the pacemaker if it is to perform as it was origi-

nally designed to perform.

We have a spiritual Pacemaker and Pacesetter and

He is called God’s Holy Spirit. Sometimes our spiritu-

al hearts act much like my physical heart: sometimes

very slow to respond to my Creator and I drag my feet

when I know God desires me to be or do something;

sometimes too fast as I hear God and immediately rush

off ahead and try to get it done way too fast without

taking time to ask how God wants it done.

Therefore: the need for God to install his Divine

Pacemaker, his Holy Spirit, in me to get my spiritual

heart to beat in rhythm with his and to get my spiritual

feet to keep in step with him.

As the apostle Paul told the Galatian’ Christians,

“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with

the Spirit.”

Since I wrestle with this, perhaps some of you do

also.

Is there ever a time when you, like others and me,

forget that we are under God’s grace and not identified

by our good works or keeping the rules? Is there ever

a time when you feel the pull of the comfortable, “It’s

always been this way,” feeling and resist the pull of

the Holy Spirit to get over it and move on?

Is there ever a time when you resist the Spirit and

feel like he is dragging you along and, looking back,

you see two trenches in the sand made by feet that

don't want to move? Yours! Have you ever had the

time when you have clearly heard the voice of God

and, zoom, you are miles ahead of him because you

have heard the word and inspiration has put wings on

your feet and you outran him?

If so, perhaps Paul’s word is for you as well as me,

“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with

the Spirit.” LLE

INTRODUCING THE ELLINGTONS

It has been the privilege of Wind of the

Spirit Ministries to be the spiritual cover-

ing for Jeremy and Joy Ellington through-

out their missionary work in Kerala State,

India. This ministry helps to provide

some financial support for their work

there as well as a clearing house for oth-

ers who wish to contribute to their mis-

sion work. We have provided this cover-

ing for nineteen years.

Jeremy originally went to India to work

with the Potters where he helped them de-

velop a pottery factory. Under his guid-

ance the tribal people created the pots and

shipped containers to America for sale.

One result of that endeavor was to pro-

vide some economic stability for the peo-

ple in that area.

In the intervening years Jeremy and Joy

have developed a ministry among other

tribal peoples, developing an annual

Christmas program attracting several hun-

dred people from the area; a Vacation Bi-

ble School often having three hundred in

attendance; an after school tutoring pro-

gram which has resulted in some of the

students becoming professional nurses; a

feeding program, soccer program and oth-

er activities that draw the children, youth

and adults from the community. They al-

so conduct discipleship classes and have

baptized many into the Christian Faith.

During this time, they have been able to

build a local church facility as well as

mentor other pastors in developing their

ministries. They provide regular reports

to the Board of Directors of Wind of the

Spirit Ministries. This helps them to be

accountable for the work they do and that

we oversee. They come to the States

about once each year to speak at various

churches and inform us, in person, of

what is happening in their work.

Jeremy and Joy have three very gifted and intel-

ligent children: Esther, a student at Biola College;

David, a student at Seattle Pacific University and

Joshua, who is in high school in Ooty, India.

These children have grown up in the missionary

atmosphere, providing valuable assistance to their

parents in all of their ministry endeavors. The

family has worked as a team in its many endeavors

to reach the local communities for Jesus Christ.

The Ellingtons have revised their schedule to

spend intermittent, equal times between India and

the United States. This revised schedule allows us

the opportunity to work together, while they are

here in the States, in planning and doing ministry

events, making use of their unique gifts and grac-

es.

We rejoice that this family is a vital part of the

life and ministry of Wind of the Spirit and look

forward to a long future of shared ministry with

them.

“THE WIND BLOWS WHERE IT PLEASES”

Jeremy Ellington Joy and I are joining Wind of the Spirit Ministries as in-terns. We look forward to being mentored by Larry and other WOSM leaders. Our ultimate hope and plan, with the final approval of the Board of Directors, is to have a shared ministry relationship. Wind of the Spirit has played a significant role in our development and it is with this in mind that I write the following: John 3:8 says, “The wind blows wherever it pleases. Where it came from and where it is going no one knows, so it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” This is where Wind of the Spirit Ministries gets its name. In life every-thing has a cause and effect. Most of us have heard stories about an upset husband who takes it out on the wife who takes it out on the daughter who then takes it out on her brother who then finally kicks the cat. The moral of the story being that the husband should have just kicked the cat and saved everyone a lot of time and heartache. I love that we as believers can and do things with no direct cause other than that we spent time in the pres-ence of the Lord, listened to his voice and did what He said. What free agents we are and what radical acts we

are capable of, even if it’s only a kind word to a neighbor. I sometimes think of us believers as God’s secret agents able and willing to do anything at any moment. We do ourselves and others a disservice if we do not take advantage of our esteemed position as God’s children. Not only are we able to do something that has a divine origin by listening to God, but we are also able to live beyond our needs, emotions and limi-tations. Often, when I enter into an area of my life where words of hope are few or where I have not experienced victory, I look for a word or for direction from God that will give me a new response to the situation. Having had all my buttons pushed, I was expecting something to work, but sadly I can end up as a total mess. It is here when a word from God not only frees me from my own broken response, but helps me to find godly health and new direction. On the other side of this equation are the many miracles that follow our obedient response. As staff strikes a rock and water flows out. Moses raises his hands with the help of Aaron and Hur, and Joshua wins the war. Jesus mixes clay and sali-va, puts it on the eyes of a blind man and he comes home seeing. In God’s hands our faithfulness, though seemingly small, of-ten accomplishes amazing results. The most famous example might be the little boy who gave up his five loaves and two fish and ended up helping to feed the five thousand. Once Joy saw an old friend in town and invited her to church. That simple invitation transformed the woman’s life. It also transformed her children, her grandchildren and the church. Your obedient prayers and actions accomplish super sized and super charged results as it passes through the hand of God. [Romans 11:36] From him, through him and to him! To God be the glory is an apt description. Jeremy and Joy will be returning to India during the first week of October. They will continue their work there in bringing people to Jesus Christ and growing a church. They will be reporting on a regular basis as we continue to share in ministry together. They will be returning to the States for six weeks dur-ing the early part of February and March of 2016.

Let us keep them and their family in prayer: Jeremy and Joy for their continued safety as they

work in a sometimes hostile environment. Daughter, Esther, as she continues in Biola College in

California. Son, David, as he begins his first year at Seattle Pacif-

ic University in Seattle. Son, Joshua, as he continues his high school educa-

tion at the Mission School in Ooty, India

OCTOBER 4-7 Larry will be preaching a revival at the Irondale

United Methodist Church in Irondale, AL, a suburb of Birming-

ham. Rev. Taylor Gallman, a member of the Wind of the Spirit

Board of Directors, is pastor of that church. Mr. Bob Martello,

vice chairman of the Board of Directors and Mr. Gary Wright, a

member of the Support Council, will accompany Larry on the trip.

LOOKING AHEAD: A Healing Academy is scheduled for Febru-

ary 16-20, 2016. This will correspond with the next visit of the El-

lington family to the United States. Other ministry events are being

planned for during their six weeks stay. If your church desires to
