WDS is committed to providing a quality product for our customer. Wherever we feel we can fabricate a better product we like to do so. We like to assure attention to detail and have control of the fabrication process. Over the past several months WDS has expanded the range of products fabricated here in Pewaukee. We have done this in response to requests from our customers who prefer to purchase product that we fabricate. However, as the economy makes its slow recovery, we will be forced to watch our component inventory levels closely and will not always be able to fabricate a particular style or color within a product category. In general it would be only the slow-moving, less-popular colors of a particular category that are not available for fabrication locally. Please ask your customer service repre-sentative to verify Pewaukee fabrication if this is a concern.

On another note, there was a recent query on Window Pro Digest (a window covering industry blog) as to where products made in the U.S.A. could be purchased. If you are interested in selling American made window coverings, many of the products listed on our discount sheet are fabricated in this country and many of the components are also. Cellular fabrics such as Facets and Garden Retreat are DuPont products and our 2” Traditions wood is North American hardwood milled in Grayling, MI. The lift system is by Rollease. Something to consider when looking for domestically produced window coverings. See the list of products fabricated in Pewaukee on our discount sheet or ask one of our customer service representatives for details.

Graber has introduced the new roller/solar/roman sample book. Almost two thirds of the book is new and there are 23% more fabrics! More of the patterns now coordinate across the LightWeaves® , Fresco® and Panel Ac-cents® products. A lot of the patterns are warm earthy colors. Order your book today! Item 30-2010-01 includes the price lists and will cost $170. Coop dollars, if available, can be requested.

Ordering and operating Panel Accents® has changed slightly. You will now select the number of tracks you need to cover your area. The number of tracks will determine the panel size. The lead panel will now be in front in-stead of in back. We will ask you how you want your shade to stack instead of how you want it to draw.

Fresco® roman includes some patterns that will coordinate with the Even-Pleat/FashionPleat® program in addition to roller shades and panel accents. There are a total of 15 new styles. In addition, cordless and motorization are both options.

There is a new cassette option for the LightWeaves® roller/solar program along with a new control option. The smart pull options works like a pump and the cord never changes length. In addition there are two new shades styles. The dual shade allows you to literally have two totally different shades on one system. Functional blackout and decorative sheer on one bracket! Hang an exterior shade from a porch that gets a lot of sun.

TIP:MoireeffectcausedbysolarshadesWhen specifying solar shades for a project, consider the moire effect. Moire is a French term used to describe a pattern created when two grids are overlaid at an angle or when the grids have a different mesh size.

If there are screens in the window under consideration for a solar shade, it is quite possible (almost certain) that the moire effect will be created. The optical results can be very noticeable and distracting. Wedonotrecommendsolarshadesforwin-dowswithscreens.

There is one color in your sample book that has a new num-ber. Color 1205 and 31205 Brushed Pure are actually color 1206 and 31206 Brushed Pure.

Also, in mid January the shipping policy for Vienna changed. The new handling fee is $5 per shade. Any shade 104” or longer needs to ship motor freight at a cost of $105. Please be aware of these charges when you provide your customers pricing.

TheFinialCompanyintroducesoutdoorhardwarecollectionThe Finial Company has introduced an outdoor line of drap-ery hardware. These are existing pieces that they selected for this collection. They are all steel in five finishes. There is a multi-step process to treat these items that results in a 20% upcharge.

The Finial Company has had extensive testing done to see how these items will hold up to the elements. Based on the test results, they are offering a 5 year warranty against fad-ing and rust. If you are interested, call for a color brochure. Item FC.OH
