As with setting up any new device, you should go to the Netloan Wi-Fi web site first and pick the setup my device option: You should then pick the Windows phone option to start the instructions for setting up your phone:

Step 1: Google Account You have to have a Google Account in order to use Google Cloud Print. Establish if you have a Google Account, and that you know the details of that account This is the first page of the set up process: you should select whichever option best applies to you.

1. I have a Google Account If you have a Google Account, you must make sure you know the name of your account and the password of the account, as this is information you may need to supply during the setup. Once you confirm you have the user name and password you can move onto step two.

2. I do not have a Google Account If you do not have a Google Account, then you must create one. The black button takes you to Google’s web site where you can create an account:

Once you have created your account, you must come back to the Netloan Wi-Fi pages. This is best achieved by using the device’s back button. This is one of buttons on the device’s menu bar. It will look like one of these two icons: It is important that you return to our setup pages before doing anything else, otherwise you may not complete the setup correctly. Once the you have a new Google Account, you can confirm this and move onto the next step.

3. I don’t know if I have a Google Account You may have a Google Account without knowing it. You may have set it up when you first got your device, and then forgotten about it. This page tells you how to check your device to see if it is registered with a Google Account, and if it is then this is the account to use. If the device isn’t registered with a Google Account then you should create a new Google Account and use that.

Step 2: Print2Cloud

Now the user has to install Print2Cloud on your phone. This is an application that allows printing from photographs and the web from a Windows phone, and uses Google Cloud Print to do this. It is available for free from the Microsoft store. Selecting the black button will take the user to where it can be downloaded : Selecting the link should open the Windows Store and take you to Print2Cloud. If the user has never used the Windows Store before then the will need to create a Windows account and log into the store before proceeding. The link should take you to the install page for Print2Cloud: Select the install button to install the software. Once the software is installed you must come back to the Netloan Wi-Fi pages. This is best achieved by using the device’s back button This is left arrow button on the menu bar at the bottom of the screen It is important that you return to the setup pages before doing anything else, otherwise you may not complete the setup correctly. If there is a problem, you will see a failure screen and you will be asked to talk to a member of staff. A failure could be due to the following:

The library card or pin is wrong

You are suspended

Youhave already registered a google account with Netloan

Someone else has already registered that google account to your library card All of these can be checked in the main Netloan software. Assuming that the you successfully registered, selecting the next button takes you to the final stage which is adding the generic printer.

Step 4: Add printer Adding a printer links Netloan’s generic Wi-Fi printer to the user’s Google Account, so that the printer will appear as an option when printing. Selecting the black button will take you to a Google page where you can add the printer:

When you select the button you are taken a Google web page that looks like this: You should select add printer, which will add the printer to the device.

The web site will tell you when the printer has been added: At this point your device has been set up and it should be ready to print. It is helpful if you remember to use your device’s back button to return to our Netloan Wi-Fi pages as you can then read the instructions. Remember that the back button is one of buttons on the device’s menu bar. It will look like one of these two icons: However, if you forget to do this this doesn’t matter too much; the device will be ready to print. If you do return to our web site then you are informed that your device is set up once you have confirmed that you have added the printer. At this point selecting the next button takes you to the instructions page.

Help pages on how to print on our system

The instructions page gives the user some step guidance on how to print, and how the job is then released by staff after it has been sent. There is also a link to our help page for you to follow if you are having problems: If you select the instructions option from the start page then you will be asked what device you are using: Selecting the device will take you back to the instruction page that you are shown when you first set up your device. This gives you a chance to re-check how to use WiFi printing without having to go through the setup process.

On the device Windows phones do not have a print option, so printing from a Windows phone is slightly different from other devices. You need to launch Print2Cloud from the list of applications on the phone. The first time Print2Cloud runs it will show this screen: You need to select the sign in with Google account option

Page 10: Windows phones - Leicester City Council...Windows phone is slightly different from other devices. You need to launch Print2Cloud from the list of applications on the phone. The first

This is the sign in screen: You need to enter the user name of your Google Account (and then the password). Next, Google will ask if the user wants to allow Print2Cloud use your Google Account; specifically to allow access to your printers: You should accept this and the application moves onto its start page. The start page is what you see after you have allowed Print2Cloud access to your Google Account: If this is the second or subsequent time you’ve used Print2Cloud you come straight to this page rather than seeing the pages about your Google account. This is where you can print your web page or your image.

Printing from the web on a Windows phone If you select the web print option, Print2Cloud will show this screen:

You need to type the URL of the web page that you want to print in the grey box. You then select the Wi-Fi printer in the <Select printer> box. You should then be able to print the document. Printing an image from the camera on Windows phone If you select the image print option, Print2Cloud will show this screen: Use the select photo option to pick the photograph you wish to print, select the Wi-Fi printer as the printer you wish to print to and then select print photo. Screenshots You can take a screenshot of anything on your phone by pressing and holding the power off button with the volume up button. These screenshots can then be printed as images by Print2Cloud, which gives a way to print whatever you have on your screens. Once a job is sent to be printed it will go to the Netloan, where it will be held until it is released. You don’t get any confirmation message about the print job being successfully printed with Google Cloud Print. Once the printing has finished you should be able to check to see if it is ready for release in Netloan. If it isn’t, you can check for problems using the Wi-Fi print errors page in Netloan

Printing and problems that may occur

If customers have difficulty printing then the Netloan Wi-Fi print page has a set of help pages for common resolutions to problems

This takes you to a page which has a tip to check your internet connection, and then links to specific help pages based on your device

As this page states, the first thing to do is to make sure you can access the internet. This should test that you are connected to the library’s wireless network. Having no connection or a bad connection will stop printing from working so checking access to the internet is a good test for this. If the connection to the network is OK and you can reach the internet, then you can check the specific pages for each device.
