It’s the number of days until the end of support for Windows XP
Windows XP End of Support: What does it mean?
October 25, 2001 – Windows XP Introduced November 17, 2003 – Office 2003 Introduced
Over 400 million copies Windows XP sold, <29% of all OSs
No more updates – hackers look for vulnerabilities, Microsoft patches them. After April 8, holes will go “unplugged”
Your computer will still run.
Antivirus will still run on Windows XP, but since Microsoft isn’t patching antivirus has more to do in a riskier environment
Regulated industries (healthcare, financial, etc.) may recognize Windows XP as an officially recognized control failure
