VistA for Education - VFE V2.03 GTM: INSTALLATION and SETUP GUIDELINESFor use with lab Components 7, 8 & 11

Minimum System Requirements (IMPORTANT)

Windows XP1. Minimum of 5 GB of free disk space is required on the system C:\ drive. To determine free disk

space:- Open System by clicking the Start button , clicking My Computer, right-

clicking Local Disk (C:), and then clicking Properties. 2. Minimum of 1 GB RAM is recommended. To determine amount of RAM:

- Open System by clicking the Start button , right-clicking My Computer, and then clicking Properties.

3. Administrative rights on the system.

Windows Vista or Windows 7:

1. Minimum of 5 GB of free disk space is required on the system C:\ drive. To determine free disk space:

- Open System by clicking the Start button , clicking Computer, right-clicking Local Disk (C:), and then clicking Properties.

2. Minimum of 1 GB RAM is recommended. To determine amount of RAM:

- Open System by clicking the Start button , right-clicking Computer, and then clicking Properties. Under “System”, the “Memory (RAM):” value should be “1.00 GB” or greater.

3. Administrative rights on the system.

Additional Suggestions:

1. If PUTTY.exe is installed on your system you should delete it from the system.2. If the Cache database is installed on the system, you should also remove it before installing (use

the uninstall program from the Control Panel).3. Local firewalls may need to be disabled for successful VistA application connection.

STEPS FOR AN INSTALLATION IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY PRIOR VERSION OF VISTA ON YOUR COMPUTER

1. Run VFE V2.03 GTM Setup.exe (double-click to launch)

3. Click <Next> to continue:

4. Wait while the files are extracted:

5. Read the License Agreement and select I accept the agreement to proceed:

6. Confirm or change the installation location and click <Next> to continue (we recommend that you install to the default installation location, when possible:

7. Click <Install> to start the installation of VFE 2.03 GTM:

If prompted to install device drivers, click “Install” each time.

NOTE: During the installation process (on some older versions of Windows), you may see a Software Installation window pop-up several times (see below). Click <Continue Anyway> to proceed with the installation. This warning will not affect the setup of the application suite.

9. Click <Finish> to exit Setup:

This installer creates a Desktop folder. Upon successful installation, one folder – VistA_Apps – will be added to your desktop. Ensure that this folder appears on your desktop:

The VistA_Apps folder should contain 9 shortcuts as shown here:

1. Run VFE V2.03 GTM Setup.exe

2. Click <Next>:

4. Click <Yes> to uninstall a previously installed version of VistA for Education:

5. Click <Yes> to confirm that you want to uninstall a previously installed version of VistA for Education (Recommended):

6. Click <Yes> to remove all packages (Please wait as the installer removes prior versions and all related dependencies):

7. Click <Next> to uninstall the prior version of XWB1_1P29 BDK32 Client Tools Registration:

8. Click <Finish>:

9. Click <Yes> to uninstall a previously installed version of CPRSSetupV1.0.6:

10. Click <OK> to continue the uninstallation process:

11. Wait for the uninstallation to complete:

NOTE: Installation of VFE 2.03 will begin automatically after uninstallation completes.

PROCEDURES FOR RUNNING VistA AND RELATED PROGRAMS ON YOUR COMPUTER

1. Double-click the VistA_Apps folder to open it:

The VistA_Apps folder contains 9 shortcuts as shown below:

2. Click <Start VFE Virtual Machine>; right-click; select <Run as Administrator>:

Note: You must run this program in Administrator mode the first time. You may run it as a non-admin afterwards.

4. When you run Start VFE Virtual Machine you will see a screen similar to the one below. If you do not want to be reminded again, check the Do not show this message again box and click <OK>.

5. Once VirtualBox sets up the Virtual Machine, this window appears:

6. Once the Virtual Machine is up and running, click the VistA Terminal shortcut. The screen below may appear when VistA Terminal is accessed for the first time. Click <Yes> to continue.

7. Login to the Vista Terminal using the Access and Verify codes provided at the end of this document:

8. Once the Virtual Machine is up and running, you may also click the CPRS Chart shortcut in the VistA_Apps folder to start CPRS. Login to the CPRS Chart using the Access and Verify codes provided at the end of this document:

9. Once you are finished with your lab session(s), click the Stop VFE Virtual Machine shortcut in your VistA_Apps folder.

Note: If you run Stop VFE Virtual Machine as a non-admin user, you must run this program in Administrator mode for the first time.

This step (stopping the Virtual Machine) allows your current state to be saved. We recommend continuing to use the version of Virtual Box packaged with this installer.

USERNAMES AND PASSWORDSASSOCIATED WITH VistA for Education (VFE) LAB ACTIVITIES

A. Access / Verify Codes

To log into VistA CPRS Chart use the following access and verify codes for specific users.

Note the period (.) as the last character in the verify codes.

Multiple incremented versions of these login types exist (e.g. doctor2 with a verify code of "doctor2.") from 1 through 40.

To log onto CPRS and Vista Terminal as a Nurse:

Access code: NURSE01

Verify code: NURSE01.To log onto CPRS and Vista Terminal as a Doctor:

Access code: DOCTOR1

Verify code: DOCTOR1.

To log onto CPRS and Vista Terminal as a Pharmacist:

Access code: PHARMACIST1

Verify code: PHARMACIST1.To log onto CPRS and Vista Terminal as a Clinical Coordinator:

Access code: CLINCOORD1

Verify code: CLINCOORD1.To log onto CPRS and Vista Terminal as a Clerk:

Access code: CLERK1

Verify code: CLERK1.

B. User classes (USR)

User Classes have been primarily preconfigured as such:

NURSE: Clinical Coordinator, Nurse, Provider

CLERK: Clinical Coordinator

DOCTOR: Provider, Clinical Coordinator, Interdisciplinary User

PHARMACIST: Clinical Coordinator, Provider

CLINICAL COORDINATOR: Clinical Coordinator, Provider

C. Electronic Signature Codes

Multiple incremented versions of these codes are preconfigured from 1 through 40.

NOTE: Electronic signature codes must be ALL UPPERCASE. ( ie. user=doctor2, e-sig=DOCTOR2)
