A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz from the famous Coonawarra wine region in South Australia, the wine has been included in the Langton’s Classificaon of Australia Wines for many years. ”The Malleea” is regarded by many as the perfect example of ”The Great Australian Blend.” This 2004 sample has been selected by winemaker Bruce Gregory from the Majella wine museum, and he suggests the wine could be aged for another 10 years or so before drinking. Lot #301 2004 MAJELLA ”THE MALLEEA” Value: $720 Six 750 ml bottles. ”The Malleea” by Majella is recognized as one of Australia’s great collectible wines. This wine is intended to embody the commitment to McLaren Vale and its regal and noble variety in their belief in minimal intervention winemaking. 100% Shiraz, 100% McLaren Vale. Matured for 20 months in French oak. Charismatic layers of blueberry, roasted fennel seeds and cured meats, seamlessly interwoven into the firm but poised savoury texture. The synergistic balance of the cascading layers of varietal flavour, palate weight, tannin and acidity will ensure that the wine will develop further complexity over the next 15 to 20 years. Lot #307 2011 BODEGA COLOMÉ HIGH-ALTITUDE MALBEC Value: $600 Six 750 ml bottles. Bodega Colomé is located in northern Argentina, in the province of Salta. This selection of high altitude Malbecs showcases the wonderful expressions the Malbec grape can achieve at higher elevations. Lot #308 DECERO MAGNUM TRIO Value: $600 Three 1.5 L bottles. This selection includes the 2009 Amano, the 2010 Malbec and the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon from Decero. The Amano has complex aromas and flavours from the violets of the Malbec to the dark fruit flavours of the Cabernet Sauvignon. The Malbec features a core intensity of red fruit flavours and lifted violet aromas that remain the signature of Malbec from the Remolinos Vineyard in Argentina, exquisitely balanced by freshness of acidity and an elegant integration of French oak. Lot #309 2012 LUIGI BOSCA SINGLE VINEYARD MALBEC Value: $600 One 3 L bottle. Luigi Bosca is Argentina’s oldest family-owned winery whose CEO Alberto Arizu is heralded as a visionary. Exemplified in this wine, the DOC Malbec, which is one of the first appellation-controlled vineyards in the country. His effort is to create quality control and understanding of local terroir in Argentina and this stunning Malbec is a fabulous ambassador of the program. Lot #311 2009 PANGEA SYRAH Value: $800 Two 3 L bottles. Originating from the exclusive zone of Apalta in the Colchagua Valley, this wine brings together the vision, experience and philosophy of two prominent winemakers with two very different visions: John Duval, one of Australia’s most acclaimed winemakers of Penfold’s fame, and Felipe Tosso, chief winemaker at Viña Ventisquero. A Syrah distinguished by complex flavours and aromas that mesh together to create something extraordinary. Pangea is full-bodied with noteworthy concentration. It is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, then in bottle for another year. This imparts balance and brings into focus all the purity, vivacity and elegance of our Apalta fruit. Lot #313 GRUET WINERY SELECTION Value: $625 Twenty-four 750 ml bottles. The Gruet family, already well-established making Champagne since 1952 in France, knew a few European winemakers who had started vineyards in New Mexico with pleasing results. So they visited the state and realized it had an ideal climate for growing grapes. In 1983, the Gruets purchased a vineyard near the Elephant Butte Reservoir and expanded their legacy to the US. This 24-bottle selection is a very special example of the winery’s best. Donated by: Gruet Winery

This cool region in Sonoma County allows the grapes to maintain their acidity and balance. The 1998 Pinot Noir shows deep nuances of raspberry and bright fruits. The latest release, 2010, is the only vintage that is not 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon – it includes a bit of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot – and was the result of a cool season. Lot #322 2012 SIGNORELLO ESTATE CABERNET SAUVIGNON Value: $2,000 One 9 L bottle. This wine opens with layers of tobacco, leather, mocha and liquorice. Lush flavours of cherry and black currant are complemented by a lengthy finish. The firm tannic structure will allow this Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon to improve and age over the next 15 years. Lot #323 2013 CAYMUS NAPA CABERNET SAUVIGNON Value: $400 One 1.5 L bottle. A beautiful ripe, plump, fat and opulent style of Cabernet Sauvignon that Caymus has pioneered, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon has a dense purple colour, loads of juicy blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, low acidity and no real evidence of oak, but a nice, plush, full-bodied opulence. This is irresistible, especially for a Cabernet Sauvignon coming in at 14.9% natural alcohol. Drink it over the next decade or more. Donated by: Wagner Family of Wine

Lot #324 MARILYN VELVET COLLECTION Value: $1,700 One 3L, one 1.5L and one 750 ml bottle. 2003 Marilyn Velvet Collection is medium to dark garnet in the glass. This wine has a dark nose of black cherry, chocolate and cola aromas. In the mouth it is lush and full with primary flavours of black cherry, chocolate and hints of spices supported by very fine, dusty tannins that seem well aged already. The wine is well integrated and poised with a decent finish. It is sold out at the producer and is only available via private collections. Donated by: Burrows & Luongo

Lot #325 2007 STAG’S LEAP WINE CELLARS CASK 23 Value: $875 One 1.5 L bottle. This is another in a line of spectacular Cask 23s from Stag’s Leap, which proves this estate’s mettle and also this zone’s potential for some of world’s most exciting and elegant Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2007 shows aromas of violets, cassis, whole and crushed blackberries, oak spice, dark cocoa, cedar and subtle cigar box. It’s intense, yet still vibrant and fresh, with concentrated flavours that build through the finish and linger after each sip. Silky texture and refined tannins complete the picture. Lot #328 2012 ROBERT MONDAVI WINERY CABERNET SAUVIGNON Value: $600 Twelve 750 ml bottles. One case of 2012 Limited Edition Vintage Label Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, plus a Riedel glass and decanter set. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is a pretty, supple wine with plenty of near-term appeal. Sweet herbs, red berries, flowers and leather meld together nicely in the glass. These vintages come from the era when Robert himself was still in charge of the winery and the winemaking. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection has a dense blackish/purple colour and creamy, sweet crème de cassis fruit, blackberries, a touch of graphite and vanilla, This exuberant, boisterous, in-your-face style of Cabernet Sauvignon is clearly a fruit bomb, so be warned. Full-bodied and opulent with stunning concentration and richness, the wine has no hard edges and is much in the Caymus style of terrific fruit intensity (most of it black and blue), voluptuous texture, and a stunning finish with plenty of glycerin, wood and spice. Lot #334 2013 EDGE CABERNET SAUVIGNON Value: $425 One 9 L bottle. Edge is a premium Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon produced from grapes carefully selected from great old vineyards in the Silverado Trail area of Napa Valley. This wine over delivers in its price/quality ratio and has consistently attained great praise. Donated by: Edge Wines

Lot #335 2011 KAYLI MORGAN CABERNET SAUVIGNON Value: $700 One 1.5 L bottle The lighter, medium-bodied, charming 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan reflects some of the vintage’s issues with less than ideal ripeness. However, Woodbridge has not pushed extraction nor tried to produce something that the grapes just couldn’t provide. It is a more delicate Kayli Morgan, offering sweet tannin, ripe black cherry and black currant fruit, not a trace of herbaceousness and a silky, seductive texture and finish. Lot #337 2013 THORNHAVEN SYRAH Value: $650 Twenty-four 750 ml bottles. Thornhaven’s Syrah has aromas of blackberry, cherry, vanilla and cloves. This is a rich, medium-bodied red that can be paired with beef tenderloin, lamb or Tuscan-style pork roast. Donated by: Thornhaven Estates Winery

Lot #338 2011 WAYNE GRETZKY ICON 99 Value: $800 Four 750 ml bottles. A special box of four bottles of ”Icon 99” signed by Wayne Gretzky. A magnificent blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Malbec, 16% Petit Verdo and 15% Syrah. This medium-bodied wine has velvety tannins and moderate acidity. Rich fruit flavours of cheery, currant, blueberry and plum are accented by notes of sweet spice. The lovely, lingering finish shows notes of black fruit, vanilla, sweet oak and spice. Lot #354 SANDHILL PAIR Value: $160 Eight 750 ml bottles. Sandhill’s 2014 Pinot Gris is clear and bright with a pretty aroma of melon, Bartlett pear, peach, tropical fruit, mineral and delicate blossoms. This light-bodied Pinot Gris begins soft and smooth with flavours of honeydew melon, pear and white peach, then builds excitement with developing flavours of orange, sweet lemon and green apple zing with a touch of site specific minerality. The 2013 Cabernet Merlot is a garnet colour with a beautiful bouquet of black currant, blackberry and cherry wrapped around notes of smoke, sweet oak, cinnamon and chocolate. A dry, medium to full-bodied wine with firm but not aggressive tannins, good structure and moderate acidity. Fruit forward flavours of red and black berries are accented by a touch of vanilla and spice. The extra-dry lingering finish shows notes of black tea, blackberry and spice.
