Protal 7200™ has beensupplied in 800 Litre kits to beutilized with SCLJV’s 3 purposebuilt coating rigs comprising

plural pumps and generators forplural application of the Protal7200. At its peak, coating crewswere completing the coating ofin excess of 435 girth welds perday using plural application.Tie-ins and repairs have adoptedthe use of 1 litre kits for manual

application of Protal 7200 and400ml dual repair cartridges.

In total the project saw nearly30,000 Litres of Protal 7200supplied on the project betweenMarch and July 2015.

The facility manufactures alltypes of Toyota consumer vehicleswhich must undergo high scrutinyevaluations on performance andproduction quality before beingmade available to customers.

To do this, a highly specialisedand carefully constructed testtrack was created which allows for employment of highly sensitive testing equipment invehicles to ensure they pass thisfinal quality control evaluation.

This summer, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada undertookrepaving of the test track located at their vehiclemanufacturing facility in Woodstock, Ontario.

In constructing this 1.5kmtrack, the contractor suggestedthe use of Densoband as they had used it with great success inthe past. Toyota engineers, whohad been flown in from Japanto oversee construction, wereinterested and agreed to theuse of Densoband.

Overseeing installation, theengineers were impressed bythe concept of the Densobandas well as the ease of installation.

After only a few hours theDensoband was fully installed andpaving resumed resulting in atrack that will perform fordecades to come.

This installation was differentfrom most which involveDensoband and DensoReinstatement Tape as themargin of accepted differencewas extremely low and so boththe contractor and the productsemployed were under closescrutiny to ensure the track wascompleted exactly as designed.

Next year, Densoband will beused again to seal cold jointswhen Toyota repaves the testtrack at their Cambridge, Ontariofacility.

In early 2007 the City of Ketchikan, located inSouthern Alaska, needed improvements to theirCruise Ship Passenger Terminal Dock. As a part of this project,the steel piles were to be protected with a long-termsplash-zone corrosion prevention system.

installation was complete in early 2007. After the piles received proper surface preparation, the contractorapplied Denso S105 Paste™, Densyl Tape™ with 55% overlap and the Series 2000 HD Outercover™ (80 milHDPE) to the pile’s splash-zone area.

After almost 10 years of service, several piles were inspected to determine the level of corrosion protectionthat the Series 2000 HD System had provided. Upon removing the Outercovers and then removing the Densyl

Tape, the steel piles showed no corrosion. The system hadperformed as advertised and will continue to providecorrosion protection for years to come.

Densoseal 16A™ PassesSealing Tests for the STEPProject MegastructureIn early 2016 consultants Mott MacDonald were interestedin using Densoseal 16A™ waterproof sealing mastic betweenentry pipes/cables and their sleeves in the ‘Strategic TunnelEnhancement Programme - Tunnel Pumping Station’ Project(STEP) in Abu-Dhabi, UAE.

The cutting edge Dh5.6 billionSTEP engineering project tobuild Abu Dhabi’s Super Tunnelmegastructure will more thandouble the island and mainland’swater capacity from 650,000 to1.7 million cubic metres a day.

Although Densoseal 16A hasbeen available for a number ofyears and used in many effectiveapplications, Mott MacDonaldasked sub contractors Drake &Scull to carry out two simpletests on the material.

the product. The tank was thenfilled with water. The end resultwas that the Densoseal 16A hadeffectively prevented any waterleakage from all four ductswhen the test was stoppedafter a period of 5 days.

Test 2: Densoseal 16A wasapplied to the same depth asabove (110mm) but this timeto just one end of each ductand the tank was again filledwith water. This time it was leftfor a period of 24 hours. Theresult was that no leaks weredetected during the test period.

Denso are proud to announce that following these successful testresults, 1.2 tonnes of Densoseal 16A has eventually been used to sealvarious ducts on this interesting project.
