Connection2020 Partnership Property Management’s Award Edition

First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of our award winners recognized at our 2019 year-end regional meetings. This issue of our newsletter is mainly about them. What an outstanding group of Site Managers and Maintenance Caretakers we have representing our company and the many apartment communities we manage!

Our corporate employees are equally great, and work very hard to support our field folks, and keep our owners, agencies and residents happy. Our agency folks from HUD, Rural Development, and Housing Finance, might write us up every now and then, but always remember that they are working hard to make affordable housing as nice, safe and well-maintained as possible. They have a very hard job. Speaking of a hard job, we should never forget how important our property owners are. They take all of the risk for development of the apartment communities in the first place, and guess who foots the bill if things don’t go well? Property owners set the standards for the management of their properties, and thank goodness, we are blessed with owners that want properties well-maintained, attractive, and in compliance with agency rules and regulations. Last but not least, we should always appreciate our residents. We have a lot of great ones who cooperate with us and love where they live. How much better does that make life when you have a wonderful group of residents?! When you are surrounded by good people, management becomes a lot more enjoyable, more simple, and straightforward. Your goals and objectives are easier to achieve. In our case, we want to provide our residents with a nice well-maintained place to live, along with outstanding customer service. We have the right people and partnerships to make that happen! It does take a Partnership to do the job right, and thus the name, Partnership Property Management.

It is an exciting time for new and “new to us” Partnership Property Management sites. Folks are moving in at Lafayette Park Apartments, a 72 unit family site in Fayetteville, NC.

Rent ups will start in February at Prosperity Ridge Apartments, a 60 unit elderly property in Kannapolis, NC and Cascade Gardens, a 68 unit elderly property in Mooresville, NC. We also have two conventional renovated historic mill properties renting up in

February- Grey Mill in Hendersonville, NC and Spencer’s Mill in Mount Airy, NC. On January 1st we assumed management of 2 existing properties- Oakwood II in Yadkinville, NC and Wesley Hollows in Boonville, NC. We also have rehabs wrapping up at 9 locations in NC. Pinecrest Apartments in Bedford, VA is undergoing a substantial rehab that should be completed by the end of 2020.

Rural Development Tennessee Maintenance Caretaker of the Year Award Winner

This award was presented at the Tennessee Association of Affordable Housing Annual Conference in Franklin, Tennessee on October 9, 2019. Representatives of Partnership Property Management included Maxine McLaughlin (Regional Property Manager), Melissa Keller (Associate Property Manager), and Scott Holtz (Maintenance Caretaker at Knollridge & Mountain Villa Apts).

Scott won the Rural Development Maintenance Caretaker of the year award for the State of Tennessee. He was selected as a winner because of all the wonderful things that his tenants said about him, and because of the great care he takes of the sites. He is a very hardworking Maintenance Caretaker that takes pride in what he does. He cares about his sites and the company.

Impacting our Communities with Community Services

In today’s society there are numerous available opportunities to give of your time and resources to charitable organizations or services within our communities. In fact, if you are like me, sometimes it can be a little overwhelming to determine which charity to give to that will be the most impactful. It is easy to make excuses for not participating or saying that someone with more money, time or creativity can participate in lieu of yourself. At Partnership Property Management we have a Community Services committee in order to provide activities and opportunities for our employees to participate in, but also our residents. Below are a few ideas on how we can ALL strive to be more community minded in 2020 and give, no matter how large or small: 1) Ask yourself what do you value- you can then look up organizations that focus on those items within your area.

2) Start out small- you may not be able to give/volunteer every week, so start with every other month or quarterly.

3) Giving is not just about dollars- your budget may be tight so maybe give an hour or two of your time.

4) Reaching out- this may entail writing a few cards or making a few encouraging phone calls.

5) Encouraging others- sometimes when other people see kindness in action they want to participate, as well.

Your Community Services Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped with our various service projects in 2019. It was another great year, as Partnership continued to donate to some wonderful charitable organizations such as American Red Cross, Cone Health Cancer Center, PPM Charitable Foundation, Mountain Housing, Wesley Community Development, and ALS Association of North Carolina.Community service and giving back is ingrained in Partnership’s DNA. As we enter into 2020 let’s all look for ways we can get more involved at our sites and in our Communities. Thanks for all that you do, and have an awesome 2020.
