Program Manager Notes:

I know it’s been a busy summer for everyone, including the team at TT&S. We have updated nearly all of our safety presentations with new videos and current information/changes.

We have also created our own defensive driving class, which has been approved by the North Dakota Highway Patrol for insurance discounts and has been approved by WSI. It is a face-to-face class. The online version from the National Safety Council will still be available for those who prefer that format.

I have completed the statewide certification schedule for ladders, forklifts, and bucket truks. Unless someone was absent during the training, everyone is covered until 2020.

In this newsletter are some details on the upcoming 2018 Annual Conference and Vendor Showcase. We are 99% complete with the schedule. Please take a look and don’t hesitate to contact us with any upgrades. We have time for changes. We are looking forward to a fun and informative conference with something for everyone.

Last of all, we have also included in this newsletter several reminders that accidents never take a break. Please use caution, common sense, and your training to make good safety decisions at work and at home.

TT&S and its conference planning committee have been working at making the 2018 Annual Conference and Vendor Showcase better than the last. The upcoming conference will take place on February 13-15, 2018, at the Ramkota Hotel located in south Bismarck. After reviewing other possible venues, we have decided that the Ramkota is presently the most accommodating for our needs.

That’s not the only news we have! 2018 ’ s confe rence i s nea r l y complete, and our schedule has been

filled. Topics range from every step of fiber optics and some wi-fi training to wi-fi test meter training for Spirent and Greenlee and more about NISC’s Appsuite. We will also have topics that every employee can use, including a sales 101 class and the return of Shar Porter to once again discuss your financial future. Additionally, Train ND will present some topics for every level of telecom employee. For more details, visit ttsafety.com.

An upgrade this year is the ability to pay by credit card. When you register online, you will be taken to a page to select your payment option with the choice of entering a credit card, sending a check, or requesting an invoice.

Also, we will be trying an event app this year. Listed in the Google Play and Apple Appstore as “Guidebook”, the TT&S guide will contain everything that will also be available in the paper program booklets and more. TT&S will provide a specific code to download the 2018 Annual Conference & Vendor Showcase guide when you pick up your name badge.

These features and more are available on our website at ttsafety.com. We will update the website as details become available.

By now, most of our member companies have received plastic certification cards. These cards are for employees who have been c e r t i f i e d t h a t t h e y understand proper usage and safety issues regarding ladders, forklifts, and/or bucket trucks. These plastic cards are intended to replace any paper cards that were sent out.

Employees who have received the cards should keep the cards on them at all times, at least while at work. If a safety issue arises, these cards are a way for the holders to direct any safety inspectors to TT&S to verify training records.

As part of TT&S’s dedication to safety, we have been working to develop new courses and improve our older materials. The process is ongoing.

Part of that has been the development of a 4-hour defensive driving classroom course that covers what all drivers should know. This course has been approved for insurance discounts by the North Dakota Highway Patrol, which means that anyone who takes the full course can submit their completion certificates to their insurance company for a possible 5% premium discount. Also, we are proud to announce that the course has also been approved by North Dakota Workforce Safety and Insurance (WSI) for their safe driver program. Companies will need to contact WSI about any benefits to them.
