Hailing from the ‘Mother City’ herself, our resident South African specialist, Vivienne, has all the ins and outs to make your trip to Cape Town truly memorable.
SOUTH AFRICAWith activities like game watching or swimming with dolphins, diving with sharks to sipping exquisite wine at one of the oldest wine estates, South Africa offers it all! Where else in the world can you view a whale from the shore and an elephant grazing with its herd all in the same day?
Described as the ‘Rainbow Nation’, South Africa houses one of the most culturally diverse populations on the planet. A visit to South Africa will certainly not be forgotten for the different experiences you will come away with!
CAPE TOWN
Boasting one of the most unique mountains in the world, the famous Table Mountain has been named one of the 7 wonders of nature. Ride the cable car to the top and experience the most breathtaking 360 degree view over the city and all of Table Bay. Very few sites on earth compares to this!
After sampling a delicious breakfast at one of the scrumptious coffee shops nearby, take a morning stroll through Green Market Square and splurge in the handcrafted souvenirs such as the Big 5 expertly carved out in wood or stone, beautiful table clothes or place settings all hand-dyed, exquisite paintings of Table Mountain and many more memorable items available to bring home with you.
Explore the many historic sites around the city including the heritage listed multi coloured homes
dotted around Bo-Kaap, dating back to when slaves were first brought to the Cape. Take a step back in time when you explore The Castle of Good Hope – the oldest building in South Africa, once a fort, but today functions as a showcase of the Cape’s early days. Built by Jan van Riebeeck and the Dutch East India Company and completed in 1679, this “star shaped” building has been immaculately restored to show off the 18th century décor and is a popular museum and tourist attraction.
Take a scenic drive over Chapmans Peak and marvel at the Twelve Apostles en route to the harbour at Hout Bay where you can enjoy the freshest and tastiest fish and chips at the delightful eatery “Fish on the Rocks” or Mariners Wharf which is equally as delicious!
NIGHTLIFELong Street in the City or Somerset Road in Green Point, has some of the liveliest night clubs should you wish to dance the night away! If you prefer listening to various music genres instead, dotted around the city centre in places like Kloof Street, Bree Street or Buitenkant Street you can find a selection of jazz clubs or some traditional African themed music at “Mama Africa” in Long Street.

I loved jumping on the jumping pillow with mum and dad and playing ‘Octopus’, and going in the pool with the pool noodles.I went on the tractor ride around the resort with my cousin, rode my bike on the BMX track, played lots of mini-golf and borrowed a cricket set from reception so I could play with my family. The pancake breakfast was really yum, we all went and had breakfast together. I loved the sweet ones with honey, but my dad liked the ones with bacon.Did you go on any adventures outside of the resort? We went to a working farm which had lots of baby animals and we could feed the animals. The camel licked my cousin’s jacket which was really funny. (Old Woperana Working Farm and Animal Nursey - www.oldwoperana.com.au)Also we played shuttlecock at an olive farm after I had a strawberry milkshake and mum had scones with jam and cream.
