There will also be a bake sale that all proceeds directly benefit the BHS service group “Partnerships for Success”, who also volunteer to organize this event with the park district. No registration is required to attend. Spend the evening with family and friends getting into the spirit of the holidays. Ages: FamiliesCost: FREE eventLocation: Bellbrock Park

The winter is the perfect time to get involved with the Park District’s new volunteer program! We are excited to be able to provide new trainings for summer program volunteers and volunteers hoping to volunteer through the park district throughout the year. We are happy to get this chance to know our volunteers even better. We can’t wait to learn about your interests and talents so that we can get you involved in a program that you are passionate about doing!

If you are looking for community service hours to help fulfill a project or school requirement this would be a great place to start. Our new online registration system helps to organize and track volunteer hours so that we have accurate records if needed. This system is also a great way to send you reminders of when your volunteer shift is as well as if there is an important program change that you need to be aware of for the day. We are always looking for volunteers for each of our programs, special events and different park improvement projects. Most of our volunteer opportunities are perfect for adults, students, scout groups, organizations, and families. Please register for volunteer opportunities online to see the most current opportunities or contact Alison Jenks-Pifer at [email protected] for special opportunities. Many visitors come to the Park District’s main office on Washington Mill Road throughout the year and a topic that

comes up pertains to the previous use of the property. The story of this community treasure begins in the winter of

1965 when the “Sugar Creek Ski Hills” opened to the public on 10 acres of rolling hills along the Little Miami River

and Washington Mill Road. The original ski area featured one tow rope for the main hill and a smaller tow rope for

thebeginners’hill.In1971,localresident,WilliamStaleybecamethesoleownerofthebusinessandexpandedthe

complex to 40 acres with upgraded infrastructure that included two chair lifts, two rope tows and a ski lodge. Safety

was maintained on the slopes by the Sugar Creek Ski Patrol which received many national awards including the highly

coveted “Outstanding Ski Patrol in the Nation” for the 1980-81season. Over the years, many residents learned to ski

here and enjoyed over two decades of skiing until the ski hills were closed in 1989.

the “Bellbrook Sugarcreek Park District Headquarters” and houses the administration offices, programming space and

a rental space for our residents. For those with fond memories of the Sugar Creek Ski Hills come visit the Park District

Headquarters to see the photos and memorabilia hung in our lobby of days gone by, you may even spot yourself on the

chair lift or heading down the hill!

We will kick off the festival with our park lighting ceremony to welcome Santa to the park with Bellbrook hospitality! Local music groups will fill the park with seasonal carols while Santa meets with his clients. Free activities for kids and families will include crafts, gingerbread contest tent and hot chocolate. We will accept winter clothing items that will be donated to the Bellbrook Family Resource Center benefitting local families in need this winter.
