1. Clearly post the rules for the dog park- Set the expectations for acceptable behavior and activity in your dog park before pets and their owners enter. It may also be helpful to include the local animal control phone number on your signage, so owners know how to handle and report aggressive dogs.
2. Do not allow puppies at the dog park- Dogs should be at least four months before visiting dog parks. Puppies typically complete their vaccinations at or around 16 weeks of age, at which point it is safe for them to play with other dogs without the risk of contracting certain diseases.
3. Require that dogs are current on their vaccines- Prevent the spread of disease by only allowing dogs who are current on their vaccines to enter the dog park.
4. Encourage dog owners to pick up their pet’s feces- Pet waste spreads disease and attracts flies, roaches and rats to the area. Provide pet waste stations and keep them stocked with bags so owners are more likely to use them consistently.
5. Provide a water fountain or other water supply- For the safety of both the humans and animals, provide access to water to prevent overheating and exhaustion.
6. Provide a shaded area- A shaded area such as tree cover, canopies, etc. will keep the park area cooler and help prevent exhaustion in both humans and animals.
7. Do not allow dogs in heat to enter the dog park- Dogs in heat can cause fights between other dogs at the park. It also creates a stressful environment for male dogs who are intact.
8. Encourage pet owners to avoid bringing young children to the dog park- Younger children may be tempted to play or wrestle with dogs they do not know, which is a safety hazard for the dog and child. Additionally, children making loud noises or running around in the park can provoke some dogs to attack.
Encourage pet owners to avoid bringing toys and treats to the dog park- Dog become
territorial when treats are introduced, and some do not want to share their toys. Avoid con-
flict altogether by leaving both at home.

Healthy Recipes - Crispy Faux-Fried Mexican Chicken
Minutes to Prepare: 5
Minutes to Cook: 20
Number of Servings: 4
Ingredients
1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, pounded until uniform in thick-
ness
1 recipe Chef Meg's Taco Seasoning
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup panko bread crumbs
1 cup low-sodium salsa
Tips
If you can't find panko, use crushed baked tortilla chips.
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Combine the panko, taco seasoning and salt in a shallow dish.
Remove any fat from the chicken breasts. Pull the tenderloin away from
the breast; it is on the under side of the breast. Slice the remaining breast
into one inch strips. You should get 4 strips from each breast. Spray each
strip with nonstick cooking spray, then dip into the bread crumbs to coat
the entire surface. Transfer the chicken to a baking sheet. Bake for 20
minutes or until the meat reaches 165 degrees. Serve with salsa.
Each serving: 3 ounces chicken and 1/4 cup salsa I love faux frying foods
using panko. This crunchy, spicy chicken would be great on a taco salad.

My husband and I went through the McDonald's driveway window and I gave the cashier a $5 bill. Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her 25c. She said, 'you gave me too much money.' I said, 'Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar back.' She sighed and went to get the manager who asked me to repeat my request. I did so, and he handed me back the 25c, and said 'We're sorry but we don’t do that kind of thing.' The cashier then proceeded to give me back 75 cents in change. Do not confuse the people at MacD's.
We had to have the garage door repaired. The repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener. I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower. He shook his head and said, 'You need a 1/4 horsepower.' I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4 and he said, 'NOOO, it's not. Four is larger than two.' We haven't used that repairman since...
I live in a semi rural area. We recently had a new neighbor call the local city council office to request the removal of the DEER CROSSING sign on our road. The reason: 'Too many deers are being hit by cars out here! I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'
My daughter went to a Mexican fast food and ordered a taco. She asked the person behind the counter for 'minimal lettuce.' He said he was sorry, but they only had iceberg lettuce.
I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked, 'Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?' To which I replied, 'If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?' He smiled knowingly and nodded, 'That's why we ask.'
The pedestrian light on the corner beeps when it's safe to cross the street. I was crossing with an 'intellectually challenged' co-worker of mine. She asked if I knew what the beeper was for. I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red. Appalled, she responded, 'what on earth are blind people doing driving?!' She is a government employee.....
When my wife and I arrived at a car dealership to pick up our car after a service, we were told the keys had been locked in it. We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver’s side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was un-locked. ‘Hey,' I announced to the technician, 'its open!' His reply, 'I know. I already did that side.'
Scary but can see it happening!!
OUTSIDE THE RESORT
Grocery options keep expanding in the North Manatee area:
New Publix Opens
Manatee County’s newest Publix opened Sept. 19 in the Gateway Commons of Manatee,
a newly built shopping center on the northeast corner of the intersection of Moccasin Wallow
Road and Interstate 75.
The store is Publix’s latest prototype at 48,387 square feet, featuring a deli in the round
that can be approached by customers from all directions. The store will also have a second-
floor mezzanine where people can sit and eat.
Detweilers is close by
Everyone knows Detweiler’s Farm Market on US 301 in Palmetto for its abundance of
fresh foods and bargain deals on quality products. But how much do you really know about
Detweiler’s and the local family that runs the store? Here are some facts about Detweiler’s
Farm Market.
1. The Detweiler family ran the Fruitville Grove site east of I-75 for seven years, building
it from a small fruit and vegetable stand to a thriving market that eventually had the sec-ond largest pumpkin festival in the area.
2. The stores are always closed on Sundays. The Detweiler family prides itself on its “strong Christian values,” according to the company’s website, and therefore they close for business on Sundays. “We’ll always be closed on Sundays as we feel it’s important to have time with family, and the same goes for our employees and their children,” the company’s website says.
3. The Detweiler family has nine children — and many of them work for the family busi-ness.
4. The Detwieler family is big on natural healing remedies. Family matriarch Natalie Det-weiler used natural healing remedies on her children while they were growing up. This inspired the company to add natural personal care products to their stores, which evolved into a full health and wellness section at the Palmetto store.
