The SHRUG Ladies Look out for this glamorous troop as they hit the streets of Wirksworth, engaging with all whom they meet. Will you stand and watch or will you come closer to join in this world of surreal glamour with an unnerving edge, the choice is yours!!! SHRUG Ladies are a Performance Company making Street Art, involving mime, improvisation and audience interaction. www.shrugladies.com

First MovementDrawn In Live projected drawing on, and in response to, live art performers. Spiral Performance Company are the performers. Caroline Bagnall is the lead artist. All takes place in the Level Mobile Studio - a studio on wheels specifically designed for projection and performance work by First Movement.Operating at intervals throughout the trail weekend at times to be arranged.

Wirksworth Windows New work specifically for shop windows throughout the town, illuminating and animating the streets through the day and into the evening. Hemingway & Anderson

St. MARY’S CHURCH Ghislaine Howard –Stations of the Cross: The Captive Figure. A nationally acclaimed artist whose paintings deal with the human figure, charting and recording our shared human experience.

PARISH ROOM Ben Cove – Trained in Fine Art and Architecture, his recent work deals with Modernist architecture, ranging through sculpture & painting to video installation.

NTU Decorative Arts Graduates - A stimulating selected exhibition from Decorative Arts graduates including millinery, glass, porcelain, ceramics, fabrics and wall coverings.

Ironwork - a selected metalwork show featuring Bethan Griffiths, Ian Moran, Dave Turner and David Tucker.

HERITAGE CENTRE Kate Genever – Commissioned as part of re:place – site specific contemporary art in Derbyshire, Kate is creating a new body of work revealing and celebrating the unique homemade tools and technologies of Derbyshire farmers.

52 NEWBRIDGE WORKS Matthew Houlding will be exhibiting architectural models of imaginary Modernist Utopian buildings. Houlding was selected for The British Art Show 6 and has shown nationally and internationally. Courtesy of Ceri Hand Gallery.

Emerging new artists The best new work by Fine Art graduates from universities in the region, - Anwyl Cooper-Willis, Dave Mullany, Libby Pearce, Lorraine Ashley & Peter Stapleton.

Peter Hoon - A Retrospective The Wirksworth-based artist Peter Hoon, who died in March 2008, was a printmaker of outstanding skill and achievement. A popular and loved figure, Peter worked tirelessly for the Wirksworth community.

53 CARPET SHOP GALLERY Alec Finlay - dark peak | white peak | wordrawings Finlay will show work from his ongoing project word-mapping the Peak District, commissioned as part of re:place.

Maxine Hall – Maxine’s photographic images taken at last year’s Festival wittily depict local businesspeople, and fittingly will be shown in a shop in the town.

54 MARKET PLACE Charles Monkhouse - makes spectacular lightworks, and his Market Square Horizon installation consists of 360 lights fixed to buildings surrounding the square.

Martyn Blundell/Lorenzo Madge – spectacular Spatial Weaves video will be projected onto a gable end in Wirksworth Market Place, alternating with video work by Lorenzo Madge.

56 THE MEMORIAL GARDENS Nottingham based artist Raphael Daden works with light and his spectacular illuminated shed of lightworks will occupy the Memorial Gardens.

57 STONE CTR- FIELD BARN Michael Branthwaite’s installation is a radical Modernist intervention in a vernacular building – a field barn at the National Stone Centre. Attaching high gloss aluminium ducting, Branthwaite will restore the appearance of function to a previously functional building.
