Top tips for a

Brighter SmileWant your teeth to really shine? Sometimes all it takes is a really good clean to remove the stains from food and drinks such as tea, coffee, curry and red wine.

A three-minute workout twice a day should be the norm (anything less and you’re not doing a proper job!), and that should stop the build-up of stains on and between your teeth. Easing back on the stain culprits will help; investing in an electric toothbrush makes the job much easier too.

Putting on a brilliant white shirt or blouse, for example, will only make your teeth pale by comparison; so choose an off-white or cream shade to create a contrast. Even better, choose a colour that contrasts with the tones in your teeth – such as blue for yellowish teeth, and warm browns if they’re grey.

Likewise with lipstick. if you want to be bold, a true red lippy will give you the whitest smile; otherwise, look at the tones in your teeth and go for contrast – nude colours with a brown base for grey teeth tones, and bluish undertones from berry, wine and plum shades for yellowish teeth.

Nothing shows off the whiteness of teeth better than golden skin with a healthy glow either. Forget the beach and tanning salon though – simply go for a tinted moisturiser or bronzer.

Give teeth a chanceQuite simply, the more contrast there is between your teeth and their surroundings the whiter they’ll seem. So think carefully about what you put around them.

Keep them healthy and they’ll have a lovely bright pink colour, guaranteed to make your teeth look whiter – so get brushing!

I love that feeling of clean teeth, don’t you? I mean really clean – like they feel when you walk out of the dentist after you’ve had a check-up.

Try as I might, they never seem to feel (or look) as clean, even after a good brushing; and I clean them religiously for three minutes twice a day like you’re supposed to (honest!). So what’s the answer?

Men have so many options with facial hair, but which shows off a new smile best? If you had a beard before changing your smile, try shaving it off – many beards are grown to hide or distract attention from less than perfect smiles.

A moustache can help to balance facial proportions if your chin’s prominent; but keep it trimmed so it doesn’t cast a shadow over newly-lightened teeth. And if you’re unhappy with your current facial hair style, don’t be afraid to try something different – you can always grow it back or shave it off if you don’t like it!

You are what you eatA beautiful look is a healthy look…and good health starts with your diet. Make sure you eat a good mix of fresh vegetables, fruit, whole grains and lean proteins every day, and drink plenty of water. Eat well, and the difference soon shows – your skin tone improves, nails, hair and teeth all have a better structure, and you’ll feel more alert and alive!

Lips TipsEvery woman has their favourite lippy, but choosing the right colour can make such a

difference to your smile, it’s worth bearing one or two things in mind.

A shade that matches the colour of your gums will make your teeth look even whiter – and become a firm favourite!

For lip liner, choose a shade that matches your lip colour. Never apply it, or lipstick, outside the border of your lips.

Remember, deep matte colours make your lips look thinner and older while shimmery glosses give them a fuller and younger look.

Most of all, remember you’ve got a brand new smile – so it’s worth showing off! Chances are you may have spent years subconsciously hiding your mouth with your hand whenever you laughed or smiled, and now you’ll no longer have to.

So just relax, let your lips part a little wider and give everyone a natural, open smile (practice in front of a mirror if it helps). It might take some getting used to at first, but it’ll soon be second nature!
