SettingupyouruserWhenyouhaveloggedinusingthesystemchosenbyyourinstitution(NEMID,WAYF,orWFlogin),youcanedityourprofilesettingsbyclickingyournameinthetoprightcornerandthenEdit profile.

ThisbringsyoutotheProfile Settingspage.Hereyoucan:

1. Editname,phonenumber,andlanguage

2. Editprimaryemailoraddnewsecondaryemails

3. Enable/disableaccesstodemoflows

FlowOverviewWhenyoulogintoWISEflow,youaremetbytheFlowOverview.Thisisalistofalltheactiveexamflowswhereyouareaddedasparticipant.Thisincludesthedemoflow,whichcanbeusedtogetafeelofhowatypicalexamflowisconducted.Youcanalsoaccesstheparticipantarchivetoseepreviousexamflowsthathavebecomeinactive.

FlowtypesFivedifferenttypesofflowsexist.Theflowtypeonaflowdeterminehowtheexamwillbecarriedout.Youcanseetheflowtypeundertheflowtitle.

Thefivetypesare:

2. FLOWlock:Usedforon-siteexamswithouttheuseofaids 3. FLOWoral:Usedfororalexams

4. FLOWhandin:Usedforexamswheretheparticipantshandinanyfileformats 5. FLOWmulti:Usedformultiplechoicetestswithorwithouttheuseofaids

FlowstateAflowcanbein4differentstates,whichcanbeseeninthetimelineofeachflow:1.Enrolledonflow

Theflowhasbeenactivatedbythemanagerontheflow,buttheparticipationdatehasnotyetbeenreached.Youcanaccesstheflowtofindinformationaboutthemanagers,assessors,curriculum,assignment,etc.

2.Openforparticipation

Thisisthemostimportantstateforyouasaparticipant.Duringtheperiodofthisstate,youcanuploadandhandinyourassignment.Thisstateisopenaccordingtothestartandenddatesseennexttotheflowicon.

3.Closedforparticipation

Theparticipationperiodhasended,andtheassignmentshandedinarebeingassessed.

4.Theflowhasended

Allassignmentshandedinhavebeenassessed.Youcanaccessthegradeifithasbeenpublishedbythemanagerontheflow.

HowdoIhandinmyexampaper?Youenteraparticularflowbyclickingtheflowtimelineortitle.

Thisbringsyoutotheflowpage,whichchangesdependingonthestatetheflow.Theflowpageshownbelowisanexampleofthestate"Openforparticipation",becausethisisthemostimportantstateforyouasaparticipant.

FLOWassign1.Under“Paper”,youcanuploadyourpaperasaPDFfile(onlyonefileisallowed)anduploadappendixmaterial,whichcanbeanynumberandtypeoffile.Ifpossiblewiththespecificfiletype,youcanpreviewafileafterhavinguploadedit.Youcanalsoeditthetitleordownloadordeletefiles.

2.Thecoversheetisaseparatepieceofpaperthatwillbeinsertedasthefirstpageofyourhand-in.Thecoversheetcontainsinformationthatisusedtomanage,store,andassessyourassignment.Click

requirementsandcanthusbehandedin.Handinbyclicking .Thisisfollowedbyaconfirmationthatyourpaperhasbeenhandedin.

Whenyourpaperhasbeenhandedin,youcanrequestforareceipttobesenttoyouremail.Ifallowedbytheflowmanager,itispossibletowithdrawyourpaperandhandinanewone.

FLOWhandin1.Youuploadyourpaperunder“Paper”.Thepaperyouhandincanbeofanytypeandanynumberoffiles.TheexceptiontothisarecaseswherethemanagerhassetuptheflowtoallowonlyalimitednumberoffilesorrestrictedthepermittedfiletypestoPDFonly.Ifthereareanyrestrictions,thesewillbeshownabovetheuploadbutton.Ifyouuploadmorethantheallowednumberoffiles,apop-upwindowwillinformyouaboutthis.

FLOWlockBeforetheFLOWlock-exambeginsTobeabletohandinapaperinFLOWlock,youneedtoinstalltheFLOWlockbrowseronyourcomputer.TheFLOWlockbrowserblocksapplicationsandotherexternalaidsduringanexam.Thebrowserisdownloadedbyclicking"Editprofile"inthetoprightcornerandthenProfileSettings>System

WhentheFLOWlock-examhasbegun

Lessthananhourbeforethebeginningoftheexam,thebutton willbeaccessibleontheexaminationpageinWISEflow.Whenyouclickthisbutton,theFLOWlockbrowserwillcommence.

WhenFLOWlockislaunched,youwillbetakentoapagethatcountsdowntothebeginningoftheexam.Theexamwillbeginoncethecountdownconcludes.Youwillgetapasswordintheexaminationroom,whichyoumustentertogetaccesstotheassignmentandthebuilt-inwritingtool.

Note:Ifyouaccesstheexamwhentheexamisunderway,youwillhavetotypeinaproctorpasswordinadditiontotheparticipantpasswordinordertoaccesstheexam.Askaproctorforassistance.

LossofinternetconnectionduringaFLOWlock-examDuringtheexam,WISEflowwillautomaticallyandcontinuouslysaveyourpaper,andyouwillbeabletokeeptrackofthisintheupperright-handcornerofthescreen.Ifyourinternetconnectionfailsduringtheexam,youmayproceedasthoughnothinghashappened.Ifyourcomputerisabletoreestablishtheconnection,theWISEflowconnectionwillautomaticallybereestablishedaswell,andyourpaperwillbesavedtotheservercontinuouslyasbefore.YouwillbenotifieddirectlythroughtheFLOWlockbrowserif

yourconnectionislostandthebar willshowatthetopofthescreen.

YouwillknowIftheconnectionisreestablished,asthebar willdisappear.

Ifyourconnectionislostandisnotreestablishedwithinafewmoments,itisrecommendedthatyousaveyourpapermanuallytoyourowncomputer.Dothisregularlytopreventlossofdataincaseyour

computershouldshutdownbyclicking intheupperrightcornerofthescreen.

Iftheinternetconnectionisreestablishedyouwillnotneedtousethisback-upversion,becauseyouwillbeabletosaveandhandinyourpaperthroughWISEflow.Ifitisnotreestablished,youmustuploadthelocalcopywhichyousavedmanuallyduringtheexam.ThisisdoneonthefrontpageoftheFLOWlock-

exambyclicking andlocatingthecopyofyourassignmentthatyousavedonyourcomputer.Thefileendswith.wf,andthetimewhenthefilewassavedisbydefaultapartofthefilename.

NotethatyouwillhavetotypeinaproctorpasswordinordertouploadalocalcopythroughWISEflow.Askaproctorforassistance.

FLOWmultiAFLOWmulticanbecarriedoutusingtheFLOWlockbrowsersimilartoaFLOWlockfloworwithoutthebrowserdependingonhowtheflowissetupbytheadministrator.ThismeansthatyouneedtohavetheFLOWlockbrowserinstalledonyourcomputerasdescribedintheFLOWlocksection.Theexample

belowisaflowconductedwithouttheFLOWlockbrowser,butaflowconductedwiththeFLOWlockbrowserwouldlookalmostthesameexceptfromthefactthattheassignmentwillbeansweredintheFLOWlockbrowserinsteadofthenormalbrowser.
