Fourth Sunday of Advent The fourth candle, lit on the fourth Sunday of advent, is the
Angel’s candle. As we light this flame, we are reminded of
the heavenly hosts that proclaimed Christ’s arrival with
“Behold, I bring unto you good tiding of great joy!” The
Angel candle is also purple, reminding us that it was
King’s birth the angels were announcing.
Suggested Bible Reading: Ezekiel 34:23, Luke 2:15-20 and
John 10:11
Prayer as we light all fourth Advent Candles
Thank you God the joy you give us. We ask that
as we wait for all your promises to come true, and for
Christ to come again, that you would remain present
with us. Help us today, and everyday to worship you,
to hear your word, and to do your will by sharing
your joy with each other. We ask it in the name of the
one who was born in Bethlehem.
Amen

NOVEMBER’S VOLUNTEER OF THE
MONTH
Congrats to Karen Pinard. A long
time member of this parish, she has
been involved in countless minis-
tries, activities, and programs. She
has led the Altar Society, St. Elizabeth Grief
meetings and Eucharistic Ministers. The Altar
Society itself is highly involved in the church
including coordinating the annual Turkey din-
ner. The EM ministry involves weekly coordi-
nating along with the nursing home visits. She
also coordinates the home visits and facilitates
the EIM program. In the past she worked on the
first ever church directory and recently coordi-
nated the pilgrimage to Spain. You can find Ka-
ren engaged in every aspect of parish life-she is
truly a gift to our community and we appreciate
everything she has done and is doing to bring the
Kingdom of God to others.
GOSPEL MEDITATION
What do you think of when you hear that Joseph was righteous? A
righteous person is not only a person who follows the law but, most
importantly, a righteous person is one who strives for holiness while
maintaining an active relationship with God. Today, we focus on the
coming birth of Jesus, and the important salvific titles of Son of Da-
vid, God with us (Emmanuel), and God saves (Jesus) that remind us
that God is present and acting. However, let’s return to righteous Jo-
seph. It is because Joseph is close to God that he heard and followed
God’s word delivered through the angel. Are we growing in our rela-
tionship with God? Do we listen to and follow God’s Word in our
daily lives? God is with us. Are we with God?
Fourth Sunday of Advent
The mystery of the Incarnation occurred through Mary and
yet through the Holy Spirit given to us in Baptism and Con-
firmation we too are called to embody the presence of God.
Have we, like Mary, said yes to God? Are we, like Joseph,
nurturing and protecting that life within us? As we celebrate
this holy season of birth, are we giving birth in our lives to
the fruits of God’s love: justice, peace, kindness, humility and
joy?
bilidad, humildad y gozo?
We invite all men to experience the opportunity to
become disciples called for by Pope Francis and par-
ticipate in the church’s evangelization. The men’s

The Piñata
The religious significance of the piñata is present in its dec-
orative elements. On one hand, the lining that covers the
piñata, which is brightly colored is associated with tempta-
tion. The seven peaks that stand on their surface are linked
to the capital sins. The fact of breaking the piñata with eyes
covered involves an act of faith in the strength of the indi-
vidual who must prevail to overcome the temptation of sin.
The sweets and fruits used as filling the piñata symbolize
the gifts and heavenly gifts for having conquered evil. So
that by breaking the piñata the faithful are rewarded for not
failing in their fight against evil.
