As we welcome in the festive season and the year comes to a close, it is time to reflect on what has come before, as we anticipate a new year full of new adventures.

The year began with high excitement as we welcomed MSC Orchestra onto our Australian shores as part of her maiden voyage from Dubai to Fremantle. Her much anticipated arrival marked MSC Cruises debut down under and what better way to celebrate than with the iconic Harbour Bridge as the perfect backdrop.

As always, we are striving to provide you, our clients, with unique experiences and destinations. In July we announced our new destination Cuba. On the 2nd of December, MSC Opera departed from her European shores to make her way to the kaleidoscopic vibrant city of Havana.

This frozen-in-time city will certainly change quickly, therefore we feel honored to offer you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the rhythms and music of Havana. MSC Opera will cruise a series of 7 night rotation itineraries. After her 2½ days in Havana she will set sail for Jamaica, Cayman Islands and Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula before circling back to the Cuban capital. On the 12th of April, she will sail towards Northern Europe for her European Summer Season.

As Cuba is so new to many people, we have created a range of great Fly, Land & Cruise Packages for your ease of booking. In the past week the excitement of this hot new destination has led us to announce that a second ship, MSC Armonia, will join MSC Opera from November 2016 to March 2017. She will sail two separate, culturally diverse, 7 night itineraries, adding an enhanced choice of must see central American and Caribbean destinations to our portfolio. Following two days and one night in the Cuban capital, the first itinerary will depart from Havana to the pristine bays and spectacular coral reefs of Isla de Roatan (Honduras), before heading for the wood and brick colonial charm of Belize City. Then it’s on to Costa Maya (Mexico) and finally to an exclusive beach experience on Isla de la Juventud (Cuba) before return-ing to Havana. The second itinerary will be the same as that of MSC Opera. We recommend combining the two itineraries into one spectacular 14 night cruise.

Earlier in the year, MSC Cruises partnered with Leichhardt Council to give away a trip of a lifetime at the Norton Street Italian Festa - and that they did! The annual festival held in ‘Sydney’s Little Italy’, Leichhardt, was definitely worth the trip for the Borelli family from Newcastle. After Rosalie convinced her husband Mario to close his shop on a Sunday to meet with extended family and friends in Sydney, they travelled down for the festival and became the lucky raffle winners. The day was enjoyed by all, and especially by the Borelli’s, and the fun times will continue for them as they fly to Italy and cruise on the Mediterranean with MSC Cruises. Originally from Italy, Rosalie and Mario also plan to visit the family village of Lama Dei Pelligni in Abruzzo near Pesaro on their trip. We are sure they will have an unforgettable trip full of magical memories and we can’t wait to hear about their amazing MSC Cruises experience.

Our other new ship is named MSC Seaside, she will be known as “the ship that follows the sun” and is sure to provide unforgettable experiences for families, sun seekers and adventurers of all ages. Based year round in Miami, she is sched-uled to set sail in December 2017 offering a series of east and west Caribbean itineraries, which can be combinable.

We are so excited to have Cirque du Soleil set sail with us on board MSC Meraviglia in 2017. For the first time ever, this world renowned Quebec based organisation will create an exclusive show for MSC Cruises guests to enjoy as they embark on a truly unforgettable adventure.

To accommodate this, a custom made venue has been designed to treat guests to the ultimate experience of exquisite dining and award winning entertainment under the one roof. This venue will be the first of its kind at sea and will host two perfor-mances per night, six nights a week. These astounding and remarkable performances are sure to inspire guests and leave them wanting more.

Natilla is a traditional Cuban pudding dessert that is easy to make and even easier to eat. Add some Cuban flavour to your traditional Christmas cooking this year with this simple recipe.

• 1 ½ cups light cream or Half & Half• 1 cup sugar• 4 Tbsp flour• 2 eggs, lightly beaten• 4 Tbsp dark rum• 2 cups heavy cream, whipped

1. In the top of a double boiler mix the light cream, sugar, flour and eggs. Stir at medium heat, until thick. Cream should coat the spoon. Add the rum and cook five more minutes.2. Remove from heat and place in a larger container full of ice to stop the cooking process.3. When cool, chill for at least one hour.4. Fold in the whipped cream and pour into sherbet or wine glasses. Chill again, for at least one more hour before serving.
