4 November 2010 Dear Mr. Scofield KIConcerts Cultural Programme in London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games’ year I am delighted to learn that you are planning on bringing quality bands, choirs, orchestras and dance groups to Britain in 2012 in the lead up to the London Olympic and Paralympic Games. On behalf of VisitBritain, may I say it would give me great pleasure to welcome your many thousands of performers to Britain. Building on the success of your culture programmes prior to Sydney 2000 and Beijing 2008, I know you will work closely with Britain partners, not only to deliver memorable performance opportunities throughout the country for your participants but also to engage with local communities in delivering exciting cultural experiences for your audiences. As the national tourism agency for Great Britain, VisitBritain will work closely with you to ensure that the performers are given every assistance to make the most of their visit. Naturally, we hope that many will choose to extend their visits to discover even further the rich history, culture and countryside that can be found not only in England, but in Scotland and Wales too. Britain in 2012 will certainly be a year to remember as we invite the world to experience the host country for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and to join in the celebrations in Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee year. Wishing you and your performers every success. Yours sincerely

The York minster cathedral is breath-taking . There has been a church on the site since 627 . The York Minster is now Northern Europe’s greatest gothic cathedral and boasts the largest expanse of medieval stained glass in the world .

“Music has always been at the heart of worship…at York Minster . Indeed it is difficult to imagine a cathedral without music . The very acts of singing, playing and hearing connect us to levels and ranges of meaning which go beyond words” .

The opportunity to perform in this awe inspiring space, as part of the enduring history it represents and with its tradition of fine music is an experience that will leave no musician untouched .
