2 About the adapterWireless LAN adapter to connect the heat pump system to theinternet, allowing for control of the heat pump system with the DaikinResidential Controller app.

2.1 Components

4 Preparation

4.1 Installation site requirements▪ The adapter is designed to be mounted to the indoor unit, in dry,

indoor locations only.

▪ The exact location of the adapter depends on the type of indoorunit. For more information, see the addendum book for optionalequipment of the indoor unit.

▪ The adapter is designed to operate in ambient temperaturesranging from 5~35°C.

5.1 Precautions when installing theadapter

DANGER: RISK OF ELECTROCUTION▪ Turn off the power supply before installing the adapter.

▪ Do NOT handle the adapter with wet hands.

▪ Do NOT let the adapter get wet.

▪ Do NOT disassemble, modify or repair the adapter.

▪ Grip the connector when disconnecting the connectioncable.

▪ Turn off the power supply in case the adapter getsdamaged.

Symbol ExplanationThe protection of appliances marked with this symbolis ensured by double insulation and does not require asafety connection to electrical earth (ground).

5.2 Connecting the electrical wiringDANGER: RISK OF ELECTROCUTIONDo NOT turn on the power supply before you haveconnected the electrical wiring, closed the adapter, andmounted it to the indoor unit.

5.2.1 To connect the adapter with the unit1 Separate the upper casing from the lower casing.

2 Connect the forked end of the connection cable to the indoorunit.

3 Connect the other end of the connection cable to the connectoron the adapter PCB.

4 Fasten the cable and ensure strain relief.

INFORMATIONWhere to connect the electrical wiring on the indoor unitdepends on the type of indoor unit. For more information,see the addendum book for optional equipment of theindoor unit.

INFORMATIONProvide strain relief at indoor unit side by using the cabletie and cable tie mounting that are included as accessory.

5.3 Closing the adapter

5.3.1 To close the adapter1 Hook the front casing into the rear casing.

2 Insert the two screws from the accessory bag.

NOTICEAfter closing the adapter, check that the connection cableis securely fastened.

5.4 Mounting the adapterMount the adapter to the indoor unit by making use of the holder andtape that are included in the accessory bag.

NOTICE▪ Make sure that the part of the indoor unit to which you

mount the holder is clean.

▪ Make sure to mount the holder to the indoor unit firmly,so that it can bear the weight of the adapter.

5.4.1 To mount the adapter to the unit1 Attach the double-sided tape to the adapter holder.

2 With the tape, mount the holder to the indoor unit.

3 Slide the adapter into the holder.

INFORMATIONThe exact location of the holder depends on the type ofindoor unit. For more information, see the addendum bookfor optional equipment of the indoor unit.

6 Starting up the systemThe adapter gets its power from the indoor unit. For the adapter tofunction, make sure it is connected to the indoor unit, and the indoorunit is powered on.

After powering on the system, the RUN and AP LEDs light up and goout again after the adapter is operational. Depending on the systemlayout, it can take up to 1 minute before the adapter is operational.

INFORMATIONBefore starting up the system, make sure that the adapteris closed and properly mounted to the indoor unit.

7 Hand-over to the userAfter having installed and configured the adapter, hand over thisinstallation manual to the user and make him/her aware of thefollowing safety precautions.

DANGER▪ Do not disassemble, modify, or repair the adapter. This

can cause fire, electric shock, or injury.

▪ Do not allow the adapter to get wet or use it whenbathing or doing similar activities with water. This cancause electric shock or fire.

▪ Do not use the adapter near medical equipment, orpersons using cardiac pacemakers or defibrillators.This can cause life-threatening electromagneticinterference.

▪ Do not use the adapter near auto-control equipmentsuch as automatic doors or fire alarm equipment. Thiscan cause accidents due to erroneous equipmentbehaviour.

▪ In case of abnormal odour or sound, overheating, orsmoke coming out of the adapter, immediatelydisconnect the indoor unit from its power supply.Otherwise, this can lead to fire or malfunction. If thishappens, consult your dealer.

▪ In case you drop or damage the adapter, disconnectthe indoor unit from its power supply. Otherwise, thiscan lead to fire or malfunction. If this happens, consultyour dealer.

NOTICEDo not use the adapter near microwave ovens. This canaffect wireless LAN communications.
