Deployment

The InTouch Fast Switch allows applicationdevelopers to switch back and forth betweenruntime and development environments atthe click of a button. Developers can quicklydetermine how their applications will lookand behave before deploying them into aproduction environment. In addition, theInTouch HMI can be started as a service, enabling automatic application start-up andcontinuous operation of the applicationthrough multiple log-on and log-off cycles.

Deployment of the InTouch application canbe accomplished in many different ways, depending on user requirements. The mostpopular methods are discussed in theArchitecture section.

UNRIVALED CONNECTIVITY InTouch enables users to link to virtually anyindustrial automation control device byproviding hundreds of I/O servers, more thanany other HMI product available. Wonderware, together with more than 100 third-partyproduct developers, offers the largest selectionof 32-bit I/O servers for hundreds of the mostpopular control devices, including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Modicon, Opto 22, Square Dand others. All Wonderware servers provideMicrosoft DDE communication, as well asWonderware’s SuiteLink™ protocol, to anyInTouch application. The FactorySuite Toolkitalso allows for the development of new orproprietary I/O or SuiteLink servers. Plus,Wonderware provides extensive support forOPC. The InTouch 8.0 and all other FactorySuitecomponents are capable of being an OPC clientfor use with any OPC server.

ARCHITECTURE—EASIERSYSTEM DEPLOYMENT ANDMAINTENANCE

StandaloneInTouch applications can be installed in astandalone environment—a single computernode. This is useful for companies that donot require many different operator stationsfor viewing and controlling the sameindustrial processes. Each node is completelyself-contained and not dependent on anyother computer for operation. These systemscan also be networked.

Client/ServerInTouch applications can also be installed in aclient/server environment. This method savestime and money on software maintenanceand administration. There are severaldifferent scenarios available, depending onthe user’s needs.

Tag Server ConfigurationIn this configuration, a company designatesone computer as a tag server, or multiplecomputers as tag servers. The tag serversstore the tagname dictionary (all the tagsused in the InTouch applications), performhistorical event logging, run QuickScripts, actas an alarm facility and connect to I/O data.Applications running on the client nodes(operator stations) connect to the tag serversto display the information.

Dynamic Network Application Development(NAD)Dynamic NAD facilitates centralizedmaintenance of an InTouch applicationmaster copy by one network server. Eachclient node makes a local copy of the masterapplication. This provides strong redundancy. If the server is unavailable, the client nodekeeps working—using its local copy of theapplication. Reconnections after the serverre-appears are transparent and seamless.

Another powerful NAD feature is that userscan accept InTouch application changes atthe client nodes, without shutting down therunning InTouch application. The systemalerts the operator when changes to theapplication are available and the operatorcan accept them when it is convenient. Onceaccepted, only the application componentsthat were changed are downloaded andupdated on the client nodes. If the operatorchooses not to accept the configurationchanges, the latest application will bedownloaded the next time the system is re-started. Therefore, the operator is alwaysusing the most current application and canhave the running application updated at anytime, without incurring downtime or loss ofvisualization into the process.

Terminal ServicesTerminal Services architectures permitcentralized deployment, maintenance andmanagement of software, re-use of hardware, high levels of security and client support formultiple operating systems. They includeWindows® CE; Embedded Windows NT® (NTE);Windows for Workgroups 3.11, 95, 98 and NT3.51 and 4.0; 2000; XP; Linux® and Unix®

operating systems. In addition, customers canuse thin-client terminals to extend the view intotheir processes. The thin-client terminals can beused in place of regular computer nodes toprovide additional low-cost views into theapplication or replacements for indicatingdevices, such as chart recorders or temperaturecontrollers. In addition, Terminal Services forInTouch applications can be run on PDAs. Thisenables the user to be mobile while still having aconstant view and control over the application. The Terminal Services for InTouch HMI providesall of the benefits of thin-client technology whilereducing the overall cost of system ownership.

InTouch ViewSystems implementing the FactorySuite IndustrialApplication Server use InTouch as a view into theprocess. The Industrial Application Server greatlyreduces the engineering efforts and timerequired to maintain and deploy large systemswithin one plant or across multiple plants.InTouch View is an ideal choice for customerslooking to migrate existing applications into onelarge, feature-rich system. In this configuration, the Industrial Application Server handles all ofthe security, scripting, history and I/O, andInTouch View provides a low-cost HMI solutionfor visualizing the information.

ADDITIONAL DISTRIBUTEDSYSTEM FEATURESInTouch offers several additional features toenable better application design and controlfor distributed environments. Fromconfiguration to deployment, maintenance tomulti-plant systems, InTouch has the toolsyou need for client/server systems.

Remote Tag ReferencingIn order to fully exploit the benefits of theclient/server architecture, the InTouch HMIenables the application developer to utilizeRemote Tag Referencing. Remote TagReferencing allows the developer to createthe InTouch application without using anylocal tagnames. At runtime, the client nodesconnect to the tag server for theirinformation. Remote Tag Referencing enablescompanies to save time and money, becauseusers can create one template and re-use itseveral times throughout the application.

Distributed HistoryInTouch software includes a distributedhistorical trending system that allows you todynamically specify a different historical filedata source for each pen of a trend chart. Thisallows an operator to view both native InTouchhistory and IndustrialSQL Server™ history in thesame trend. Distributed History trendingenables a user to quickly analyze historicalinformation on one screen saving time andallowing better analysis of multiple variables.

Dynamic Resolution Conversion (DRC)Dynamic Resolution Conversion (DRC)enables users to develop applications in onescreen resolution and run them at another, without affecting the original application. Theapplications can also be run at a user-definedresolution, instead of the display resolution. In addition, DRC allows customers to takeadvantage of multiple monitors within anapplication without worrying about wherethe windows will appear. Users can save timeby creating an application once anddeploying it anywhere, on displays of anysize—without redesigning, copying ormodifying the original application.

Distributed Time ZonesThe InTouch HMI provides services to boththe distributed history and alarm systems, permitting value viewing in the local time. This is important because it eliminatesconfusion over when events occurred whenapplications become larger and span multiplephysical areas.

OPEN AND ACCESSIBLEDEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT Wonderware has taken advantage ofstandards in communication technology andmarried them with the Microsoft technologiesof the future, bringing the applicationdeveloper a more open and accessibledevelopment environment. The InTouch gives

users access to all the latest devicecommunications protocols, includingWonderware’s SuiteLink™ protocol, OPC, andstandard DDE, fastDDE and NetDDE. Inaddition, InTouch is also an ActiveX container. It allows an InTouch user to install third-partyActiveX controls and use them in anyapplication window with simple point-and-click configuration, no programming required.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

SECURITY MODELS

Access-Level Password SecurityInTouch can be configured to use an access-level password security model that enablesthe developer of the InTouch application togroup users into access levels with differentpasswords and then assign the access levelsto windows and tags. This gives the developerthe ability to limit the users’ capabilities inthe InTouch application, based on their areasof responsibility and authority.

Strong Security for Applications

Microsoft Windows NT Authentication The InTouch 8.0 enables the applicationdeveloper to use the Microsoft Windows NTfor authentication. This enables developers togrant permissions to InTouch users on adomain controller or the local computer, based on user identity and group affiliations. This fully integrated approach to applicationsecurity reduces the amount of required bythe IT department to administer and maintainsecurity passwords and user names.

FDA 21 CFR Part 11 In addition, InTouch8.0 software includesauthentication fieldsthat are necessary for customers who need tocomply with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and otherregulations. New security script functions and

variables have been added to version8.0,making it easier for customers to complywith government regulations and to establishplant security policies.

FactorySuite A2 Industrial Application ServerSecurityFor customers who have adopted theFactorySuite A2™ Industrial ApplicationServer, the InTouch 8.0 HMI also offerscomplete integration with the ArchestrA™security model employed by the IndustrialApplication Server.

DESIGNED FOR WINDOWS XP

Microsoft Windows XP Logo CertificationInTouch 8.0 is the first HMI to qualifyfor the “Designed for Windows XP”logo. This means that InTouchapplications will install and run onthe Windows XP platform seamlessly.

Version 8.0 also leverages new XP featuresand system administrators can easily installand remove drivers from the XP platform.

ALARMS—MORE VIEWINGOPTIONS, ADDITIONALFEATURES AND BENEFITSKnowledge about system alarms and the abilityto acknowledge them in a timely manner cansave a company hours of costly downtime.Operators need to view alarms and track whatoccurred throughout the entire manufacturingprocess in order to minimize and beaccountable for losses. InTouch software offersthree different alarm views that can be usedtogether or separately in the application.

THREE VIEWS INTO ALARMS

Distributed Alarm DisplayThe Distributed Alarm Object enablesoperators to select and pre-configure alarmviews at runtime. This display shows summary(current) alarms.

Database View Control The Database View Control displays alarmsthat have been logged to the InTouch AlarmLogger Database. The InTouch 8.0 HMI offersimproved queries and more advanceddate/time formatting. The display showshistorical (session) alarms.

Alarm Viewer ControlThe Alarm Viewer Control is an ActiveXcontrol that provides both summary (current)

Page 6: WNDR-598 intouch 8.0 d/s - maha-net.co.krmaha-net.co.kr/m-file/intouch_ds_r4.pdf · InTouch ® HMI software is ... and Symbol Factory—an advanced graphics library that contains

and historical (session) alarm information. Ithas a similar look and feel to the DatabaseView Control to enable quick configurationand ensure ease of use. The alarm viewers enable the operator to sortthe alarms based upon the important prioritiesat runtime. Dialog boxes and easy-to-useWizards make alarm configuration simple toimplement. An InTouch user gains completecontrol over the current alarms in their systemand retrieval of historical alarm information.

ALARM FEATURES ANDENHANCEMENTS

Alarm AcknowledgementInTouch offers three alarm acknowledgementmodels: Traditional, or condition-oriented,alarms; Event alarms, which are compatiblewith the OPC alarm model and require anacknowledgment for the most recenttransition to an alarmed state; and ExpandedSummary alarms, which supportacknowledgment of every individualtransition into and out of an alarmed state.

Alarm Flexibility Alarms can be enabled/disabled directly orindirectly, using Alarm Inhibitor Tags, underfull control of the Application. Alarmsuppression can be applied to single Alarmclasses, tags or groups, to prohibit the displayof alarm information on a specific view node.System-wide disablement can block Alarmactivity at the source.

Powerful Distributed Alarm Subsystems

Alarm ToolkitThe Alarm Toolkit enables third parties, systems integrators (SIs) and end-users toenhance InTouch systems by writing custom

Alarm Providers and Alarm Consumers thatwork with their devices. Alarm Providersdetermine alarm conditions and publish thealarms to the InTouch Distributed AlarmSubsystem. Alarm Consumers are clients thatreceive information from the InTouchDistributed Alarm Subsystem. By using thetoolkit, a hardware device interface can beconstructed and integrated into an InTouchenvironment, allowing that hardware deviceto publish and manage alarms using theDistributed Alarm Subsystem.

SuiteLink Time-StampingInTouch 8.0 software offers alarming up tothe millisecond, when the alarm generated, not when the consumer receives the alarm.

Easy Alarm Configuration Wizards

Alarm DatabaseThe InTouch Distributed Alarm Subsystemsupports logging alarms and events to aMicrosoft SQL Server 7.0, 2000 or MDSEdatabase. This gives you the power of arelational database, regardless of theapplication size or project budget.

AlarmSuite Database MigrationSupport for AlarmSuite users is still available. However, to enable maximum flexibility, theInTouch 8.0 HMI also provides migrationtools from existing AlarmSuite databases tothe Alarm Database View Control.

Easy-to-Configure Hot Backup andResynchronizationThe Distributed Alarm System allows you toconfigure a secondary backup AlarmProvider to establish a fail-safe system.Alarm Provider Pairs are configured using asupplied utility. Should a primary AlarmProvider fail, the Distributed AlarmSubsystem seamlessly acquires Alarminformation from the backup system. Onreconnection of the primary Alarm Provider, the Distributed Alarm Subsystemsynchronizes the information before thePrimary system becomes live again.
