    Woe to he who recites it but does not contemplate its (meaning).

    In a hadith that Ibn Marduwyah recorded, Ataa said, I, Ibn Umar and Ubayd

    bin Umayr went to Aishah and entered her room, and there was a screen

    between us and her. he said, !" Ubayd# What pre$ents you %rom $isiting us

    &e said, 'What the poet said, 'isit e$ery once in a while, and you will be

    lo$ed more. Ibn Umar said, 'ell us about the most unusual thing you

    witnessed %rom the Messenger o% Allah. he cried and said, 'All his matters

    were ama*ing. "ne night, he came close to me until his s+in touched my s+in

    and said, 'et me worship my ord. I said, '-y Allah I lo$e your being close to

    me. I also lo$e that you worship your ord. &e used the water and per%ormed

    ablution, but did not use too much water. &e then stood up in prayer and

    cried until his beard became wet. &e prostrated and cried until he made the

    ground wet. &e then laid down on his side and cried. When -ilal came to alert

    the rophet %or the /awn prayer, he said, '" Messenger o% Allah# What ma+es

    you cry, while Allah has %orgi$en you your pre$ious and latter sins. &e

    (s.a.w.s) said,

    (" -ilal# What pre$ents me %rom crying, when this night, this Ayah was

    re$ealed to me,)

    erily# In the creation o% the hea$ens and the earth, and in the alternation o%

    night and day, there are indeed signs %or men o% understanding.4 (urah Aal5

    About the term Uli Al5baab4 (men o% understanding) in the $erse, it re%ers to

    the intelligent and sound minds that contemplate about the true reality o%

    things, unli+e the dea% and mute who do not ha$e sound comprehension.

    Allah said about the latter type in the 8uran,

    And how many a sign in the hea$ens and the earth they pass by, while they

    are a$erse there %rom.4 urah :ousu% (32;).

    Allah then describes those who ha$e good minds in the $erse that %ollows in

    urah Aal5e5Imran6
