Story Teller by: Jeff WolfFallen Hot Rodders

Since the February issue of the magazine was published we have lost two great men in this hobby of ours. First it was Tom Medley passing at the age of 93. He was known for his tremendous accolades such as his character Stroker Mcgurk and many others throughout his long career. Although I never met him, I did follow the tragic fire that completely totaled his beloved ’40 Ford. I also followed the re-build of this awesome car by his friends and supporters across the industry. I was also very excited for him that he got to enjoy the complete restoration of his car before his passing. Most recently we also lost Jack Trepanier father of Troy Trepanier owner of Rad Rides by Troy. I did have the honor of meeting Mr. Trepani-er at a show several years ago in Columbus, Ohio. What a nice gentle-man to take the time out of his busy schedule to say hello and chat a bit. It touched my heart to also see the custom casket that Troy and his crew built for his father as a tribute! I know that passing on is something we all have happen at some point. This fact is why it is very important for all of us to live our lives as fully as possible. Every day we should be spending time with our friends and loved ones, we should also spend time doing what we love best and enjoying the items in our lives that make us happy, because a fact that ev-eryone should also be aware of is that no one is guaranteed tomorrow! Get out there and do what makes you happy! The things that make me happy is spending time with my family, friends and my wife Heather, driving my Impala and last but certainly not least is the time I spend work-ing in the industry and the time spent here at the magazine for ALL of you!!! Life is short....enjoy it to the fullest!!! WMM

Carl Caspers Rod & Custom SHow was a new one for us this year. It was held February 21st - 23rd at the Kentucky Expo Center in Lousiville, Kentucky. This show also had competition for the ISCA crowd and others. ISCA heavy hitter of the indoor shows. In-ternational Show Car Association. So the cars, trucks were all high end as was the lighting and the displays.

What an awesome show! There were cars of all makes, models and types for all to enjoy. They even had a small section of new cars on display for anyone that might have been in the market for a new daily driver.

A few of the buildings were full to the brim with my type of cars, hot rods, customs and muscle cars with some way cool pick ups sprinkled in. There was even one hall filled with low riders and a hydraulic jumping competi-tion. There were several food vendors on hand, one of which I just had to try, killer ice cream. I didn’t want to take too much time away from the show to eat a full sized lunch, as my time was limited. I’ll certainly re-member them next year when I’m in town.

Please enjoy some of my favorites from this awesome show! WMM

The killer interior was done by none other than the leg-endary Paul Atkins and is as luxurious as they come and highly custom.

It tucks those large hoops thans for a Ride Tech Shock Wave suspension. And provides plenty of clamping power thanks to Wilwood discs.

This car was built by Superior Au-toworks in Frederi-ca, Delware.

Bench RacingBench Racing is defined in several different ways. The urban dictionary defines Bench Racing as:

1. To discuss quarter mile elapsed time of a car based on a list of modifications or horsepower estimate.2. To discuss the estimated output (in horsepower) of one engine versus another based on lists of modifications done to each engine.3. Technology…love it or hate it? Technology makes our lives easier in some instances. When it works that is! Some folks are not into technology, they would rather do things the old school way. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that either. The old way of doing things is great, less hassle, less things to learn and it works and works well, just takes lon-ger to get things done. Some folks do not want any sort of modern technology in their hot rods. They prefer the traditional approach. They go to great pains to make sure things were original some don’t have parts newer than 50’s or 60’s etc. While, I do like those types of cars and have a great respect for them, my current car is a mix of mid 60’s styling with more modern performance and comfort. Technology can certainly be a pain, especially if you make a mistake and lose your work, or break something due to unforeseen issues. New cars with all sorts of electronics and computers are out there and they continue to grow in number, how-ever, all this technology certainly introduce more points of failure into the equation. And trying to work on them for the average person is not going to happen without high priced tools and equipment. Like it or not, technology is out there and not going anywhere. I myself choose how I use it. I don’t have to have nor do I ever want the newest gadget on the market. Tell me what you think!!! WMM
