Message from Mrs. Hemingway
Liberty Pines Academy Families,
• Picture Retake Day – November 2 is our fall picture retake
day for students – Leonard’s Studios would like all our Wolf
families to be pleased with their child’s fall picture. This retake
day is for new students, students that were absent on our
original retake day, or any families that would like to have their
child’s picture retaken. Please come to school on November 2nd
dressed for picture day.
• Parents are encouraged to volunteer and participate as equal
partners in the education of their children. For safety reasons,
District procedures for parents being on campus during school
hours are in effect through our school access form online
http://www.stjohns.k12.fl.us/volunteer/. Parents on campus are
expected to model appropriate dress. Parents should follow
dress guidelines as described in the student/campus/District
dress code. All clothing must be modest and not revealing or
distracting.
• Remediation/Enrichment Opportunities: Please ask your K-
5th grade child about their WOLF (Working on Learning
Fundamentals) Focus time during the school day or your 6th -
8th grade child about HOWL (How our Wolves Learn) Hour
every Wednesday. Both opportunities allow for students to
receive remediation on skills that require additional support or
enrichment to extend their learning. We are excited to offer both
these opportunities for our K-8 students.

Traci Hemingway

Students Helping Students
Through a partnership between our guidance department and our
teachers, students are enriching their education through hands on
language learning experiences. Ms. Gilbes’ 8th grade Spanish
class is volunteering in our elementary classes to help our
Spanish speaking students. The 8th grade students will interpret
directions, check for understanding, and label the room for
common vocabulary words. This partnership is helping to foster
friendships and support for both our 8th grade and our elementary
students.
LPA will hold its annual Liberty Parade on Thursday,
November 9th. The parade, themed America Strong, is
held to honor and thank our Veterans for their service to our
country. All students will parade through the front of the
school to perform a grade level song, followed by a school
wide performance. We encourage you join us to see this
amazing performance.

This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the
help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George
Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve.
"This is a very talented cast who has a great passion for this classic story. They are enjoying the
process of learning about how these stories were broadcast simply over radio waves. They are working
hard to perfect their different "radio voices" for each character." says Director, Jill B. Herkel.
This will be a wonderful holiday evening at the theatre!
Tickets are only $5 and the show runs December 7th and 8th at 6 p.m. at Liberty Pines Academy 10901
Russell Sampson Road.

The "Of the Month" program is looking for your help in recognizing
LPA students, teachers, staff, and volunteers who go above and
beyond for our great school. I know there are some outstanding
people who deserve this recognition. If you feel you know of just
the right person to be recognized, please send an email
to [email protected] with a short description as to
why this person should be considered.
The Staff Member of the Month winner for October is Mrs.
Hemingway and the volunteer of the Month is Cathy Richter for
her work on spirit wear and the book fair! Thank you for all that
you do for LPA!

Meet the Artist October-November sessions will focus on mixed media.
What is Mixed Media? It is the use of two or more art materials in an artwork. Collage is a type of mixed media and
the word comes from the French word “coller”, which means “to glue ". A collage is an artwork made by gluing things
together, such as: magazine photos, tissue paper or pieces of string. Most K-5 students will be making collages this
session.
