CHANGES IN THE CLASSROOM
“Success means doing the best we can with what we have. Success is the doing, not the getting; in the trying, not the triumph. Success is a personal standard, reaching for the highest that is in us, becoming all that we can be.”
Zig Ziglar
PERSONALISED LEARNING PLANS
WHAT IS A PERSONALISED LEARNING PLAN? (PLP)
• Inclusive of all students (helping every learner to benefit from education)
• Student centred
• A partnership between students, teachers and parents
• One that values the needs of the individual
• One that encourages personal excellence
• Flexible
• Stimulate discussion at parent interviews
• Planning for overcoming any barriers to learning
• Record achievements beyond a purely subject based focus (the whole child)
• Equipping learners with the skills and attitudes to become life-long learners.
• Encourages goal setting by students
• Sets learning targets for students
• To encourage self-evaluation of their own needs and active participation in negotiating personal targets
• To empower students to adopt independent learning habits
• To encourage the student to reflect on how they learn best.
• To “raise the bar” and aim for constant improvement
• To reflect on how personal growth and healthy relationships can impact on academic success
• To prepare them to be “life-long” learners
