Back in the Clubhouse!

Sept. 11th

What a great start for

our return to the Woman’s Club

clubhouse! We had 54 members

& 10 guests, all treated to deli-

cious goodies provided by our

Board & committee members.

The Perfect Prepper

emphasized the

importance of being

prepared and ladies from

AG Public Arts shared

their goals. JoAnna had

an inspirational message about

9/11and Sharon shared correspondence,

including letters from scholarship recipients.

Barbara encouraged us all to join one or

more of the “Out and About” trips planned.

The Opportunity Drawing was won by

Arlene Rowan who went home $91 richer

than when she arrived. Per Toni, “The Club

also has $91.00 to add to our funds thanks

to the generous members who bought

tickets at the door. You can't win if

you don't come to the meeting

and buy at least one ticket”!

Vivien McClintock won October’s

free lunch. Woo Hoo!

Kitchen Update

Now that we are back at the

clubhouse, it is amazing at

what simple changes like the

new kitchen floor and shutters

on the windows have made to

it’s appearance. I can only

IMAGINE how amazing the

new kitchen will look! Well, it

won’t be too much longer. We

have almost $79,000 & a plan

which will soon go out to bid.

We are told it will be approxi-

mately 6 months until the

start of construction.

A HUGE thank you for all the

ladies’ donations of both

baked goods and money for

the AG Water Symposium.

Between the AG LIONS Club

donation of food & drink

profits and WCAG sales, we

totaled $896 more towards

the kitchen. Mary Carson &

Laura Vopatek took the

unsold baked goodies home to

freeze for the September

meeting, but a little birdie told me that both Mary’s & Laura’s

husbands couldn't resist sam-

pling the wares!

BLUEGRASS & BRUSHES! On October 17th, the Arroyo Grande Public Art group will hold their

Annual Fundraiser at our clubhouse. This marvelous event will include two “arts bars” for your creative

endeavors, live blue grass music, auctions, and much more. This is a great opportunity to support public

art in Arroyo Grande so please save the date! Call 709-6005 for information/tickets.

Dear Judi Boudreau,

I personally want to thank you for blessing me with the

Woman’s Club scholarship. I am majoring in pharmaceu-

tical chemistry at UC Davis where I will ultimately be

pursuing dentistry & orthodontics. I plan on one day

moving back to our little town of Arroyo Grande to open

my own private practice, to give back to the community

that once gave to me. You have placed me one step

closer to reaching my dreams. Sincerely, Olivia Galindo

8th ANNUAL ARTISAN FAIRE! On Saturday, November 14th, we will host one of our major fundraisers for this year: our eighth annual Artisan Faire! It will run from 10 AM to 5 PM and will be back in our Clubhouse. All the members of the club are asked to participate in some way to make this a big success. If you can, please volunteer to be part of our Cafe Crew either in the “advance

planning and preparation” stages in the weeks ahead of the Faire, or to provide extra hands for serving and clean up on the day itself. Also needed are lots of people to walk around the Five Cities area and place our flyers in storefronts (with permission) of the businesses, campgrounds, mobile home and camper parks, etc. etc. The more "feet on the ground" the better to draw both community residents and tourists to our event. If you can't do anything too strenuous, please think about reaching out online, by phone, or personally to your family, friends and neighbors and encourage them to attend. It is very important that members attend the Faire if at all possible to patronize our Cafe —as Café sales are the most significant source of our fund-raising for this particular event. We promise a variety of delicious lunch and snack food! Naturally we will also have at least one (if not more) raffle drawings for a fabulous prize(s) ! If you can't come to the Faire, please purchase one or more raffle tickets at our October and November club meetings. You don't need to be present to win a prize. Need more info or want to volunteer? Please call Alison Stuart at 473-1866 or email at: [email protected]

GREAT AMERICAN MELODRAMA - Friday December 4th @ 4pm

Dear Woman’s Club of Arroyo Grande,

This is Nicole (Nikky) Heredia, a senior at

San Diego State University. Thank you so much for the $400 scholarship. It provided me the

opportunity to cover the cost of books and some of my

tuition fees. This past summer, I was enrolled in 2

classes: Psychology and Child Development, receiving

“A’s” in both. I also have begun 2 new jobs: one with Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla and one as clinical

nurse lab assistant at SDSU. I am blessed to be provided

these opportunities and will be constantly continuing to

grow and widen my knowledge. I also recently received

my Certified Nurse Assistant certification which required a written and skills test component and which has helped

supplement and build upon my current nursing skills and

knowledge. I just wanted to express my gratitude and

say thank you again for your support. I hope you lovely

ladies continue to enjoy the beautiful central coast weather. With gratitude, Nicole Heredia
