On March 8, Kis- sell, the 33rd-ranked player in the nation according to the ITA Rankings, defeated No. 43 Lindsey Hardenberg of Virginia in straight sets, 7-6, 6-1. She gave Marshall its only point against No. 27 Virginia. The Hostetter, Pa., native won her singles match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, against Winthrop’s Elizaveta Zaytseva. The 30th-ranked Herd doubles duo of Kissell and Dominika Zaprazna clipped Zayteseva and Yasmine Alkema 8-5 to secure a 6-1 win for Marshall. Kissell is now 12-1 in singles play this season with all her matches being played in the No. 1 slot. This is her third career Tennis Player of the Week award and third this season. MALE TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK (March 16) DARREN WALSH - SMU RS-Jr., Croydown, England | Woodhouse Grove Walsh went 4-0 on the week against No. 61 VCU and No. 21 Virginia Tech. At the No. 4 singles spot, he beat Patrick Daciek of Virginia Tech 7-6 (5), 6-2, and Filip Svennson of VCU 7-6 (2), 6-4. Walsh and teammate Adham El-Effendi edged the Hokies’ Yoann Re and Sabastien Jacques, 8-4, in doubles. The No. 37-ranked doubles tandem in the country of Walsh and El-Effendi also clipped the Rams’ Camill Salomon and Krisztian Kroscko 9-8 (5) in Blacksburg, Va. C-USA TENNIS HIGHLIGHTSMen’s Tennis

e Six C-USA men’s tennis programs have advanced to the NCAA Championship, while those five combine for an impressive 44 appearances.

e In 2009, Tulsa become the first team in league history to win four-consecutive league titles. The Golden Hurricane is tied for second all-time with its four titles, trailing only Tulane (five).

e TU’s arnau Brugues was named the 2009 C-USA Men’s Tennis Player of the year for the fourth-consecutive season.

WOMen’s Tennis e C-USA Women’s Tennis programs boast 21 All-America selections in its 14-year history.

e Seven of the 12 C-USA schools have made appearance in the NCAA Championships, while those seven combine for 32 showings.

e Tulane, whose women’s program returned to the courts in 2008, has earned four C-USA Women’s Tennis titles, including three straight from 2003-05. Tulsa has won the women’s title the last two seasons.
