Re: Recreation Activities for March 2020 – Focus: Money Management
This month’s activities run Sunday, March 1st, through Tuesday, March 31st.
Please read through the registration letter carefully to see which activities you would like
to participate in.
• Be sure to check the days and times the events are being held.
• To select your activity choices, simply put a check mark in the line provided on
the “Yes, I’m interested” line of each event.
• Checks must be made out to Wood County Board of DD or to the specific
vendor indicated in the description.
• Please do not send in payment until date specified on confirmation letter!
• When submitting payment to the Wood County Board of DD for your activity,
please send the exact amount as we are unable to make change.
• Transportation will only be provided from the assigned meeting place.
• One-to-one or special assistance/supervision will not be provided.
• A confirmation letter will be sent out by the end of February. Please read the
confirmation letter carefully. Some of details about activities may have changed.
You may not be enrolled in all the activities you requested.
*Note activities may be canceled due to weather and other circumstances, and it is possible that ticket
money may be nonrefundable.

1.) Black Swamp Players- “The Drowsy Chaperone” & Lunch:
What: The Man in Chair, a mousy, Broadway fanatic, seeking to cure his "non-specific sadness", listens to a recording of a fictional 1928 musical comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone. As he listens to this recording, he is transported into the musical. The characters appear in his dingy apartment, and it is transformed into an impressive Broadway set with seashell footlights, sparkling furniture, painted backdrops, and glitzy costumes. Have lunch at Sunset Bistro before the show. When: Sunday, March 1st from 11:30am - 4:15pm Where: Meet and pick up at WLS Entrance C. Bring: $20.00 for lunch and $17.00 for ticket. 5.) Celebrate EDU Kindling Workshop & Pizza:
What: Fun events designed to give people a chance to experience entrepreneurship. With a small group, people will design a unique popcorn business, creating a name, logo and business model. Enjoy pizza during the break. This is a great chance to practice business etiquette, design a support network, and learn more about themselves and their interests. 6.) Monster Jam:
What: Head to the Huntington Center and see the most action-packed live event on four wheels!
Monster Jam is where world-class drivers compete in both monster truck racing and freestyle
competitions. The event features the most recognizable trucks in the world including Grave
Digger and some of the biggest names in the sport. When: Friday, March 6th from 5:45 - 10:00pm Where: Meet and pick up at WLS Entrance C. Cost: $15.00 which will be due in advance!

18.) Rock of Ages the Musical: What: Head to the Maumee Indoor Theater and see 3B Production’s showing of the Rock of Ages! A jukebox musical built around classic rock songs from the 1980s, especially from the famous glam metal bands of that decade. The musical features songs from Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison and Europe, among other well-known rock bands. Have lunch at Dale’s Bar & Grill in Maumee before the show. When: Sunday, March 15th from 11:45am - 5:30pm Where: Meet and pick up at WLS near Entrance C.

20.) Volunteer at the Dog Shelter: What: Socialize and play with the dogs at the Wood County Dog Shelter. Volunteer orientation and paperwork must be completed before prior to volunteering.

22.) Improvaneer’s Workshop:
What: During the Improvaneer Workshop, participants will learn the basics of improvisation in a very fun, high energy setting where there are no mistakes, and everyone can participate in a way that works best for them. After participating in the workshop, they may have the opportunity to be in a part of the performance later that evening. Held at Owen’s Community College, Veteran Hall. What: The Improvaneers are an up-and-coming comedy troupe of performers with Down Syndrome. We’re excited to host them for this memorable and fun evening filled with laughter! knows...The supporting cast includes John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, and Stockard
