Completion LoggingDual Receiver Bond ToolWood Group Logging Servicesʼ Dual Receiver BondTool (DRBT) delivers the information to evaluate the effective-ness of the cement sheath surrounding the casing and theexistence of hydraulic isolation.

The tool utilizes a standard transducer configuration, employing a single transmitter and two receivers spaced atthree and five feet. The ceramic transducers are resonant at20 kHz. Also included in the string are a casing collar locatorand a gamma ray instrument. This string can also be run incombination with a neutron tool.

The RBT radial measurement identifiespotential channeling, void areas around the casing, and inadequate bonding that may be undetectable with standardamplitude averaging instruments. The RBT simultaneouslyrecords conventional three-foot amplitude and travel time witha five-foot receiver for full waveform presentation. The 360° sectored evaluation saves the time and expense of unnecessary remedial cementing by identifying isolatedintervals of good cement that would allow for adequate zoneisolation.

Our Multi-Arm Caliper Tool significantly reduces log interpreta-tion errors. The inspection caliper exactly portrays both minimum and maximum I.D. with calculated remaining wallthickness in an extremely close tolerance trace. Each feelerarm has the ability to independently signal either a minimumor maximum diameter change. The caliperʼs feeler arms operate two independent cams that continuously report minimum and maximum diameter location to the surface.

Pipe RecoveryStuck Pipe LogWood Group Logging Services' Stuck Pipe Loggives a complete record of all stuck intervals and possibletrouble areas in a string of stuck pipe by utilizing an acousticdevice, which sets up a vibration in the stuck pipe. The ampli-tude of the vibration measured by a receiver decreases atstuck intervals in proportion to the severity of the stuck condi-tion. The sonic section consists of a transmitter and receiver section. The transmitter section emits rapid pulses which travelthrough well fluid and the pipe before arriving at the receiver.The entire logging system, both downhole tools and surfaceinstruments, utilizes solid state electronics to ensure trouble-free performance.

The 1-11/16" OD downhole instrument is run on a single-conductor electric line. The logging instrument is calibrated inknown free pipe, normally near the bottom of the surface pipeor last casing string. After recording, a signal attenuationscale is placed on the log. This scale, expressed in percent-ages, accurately indicates the severity of stuck conditions ateach interval.

The cut is flare-free, burr-free, and is not distorted on either the ID or OD. Thisallows trouble-free fishing operations to progress. No part ofthe tool is expendable; therefore, no debris is left in the hole.The cutters are designed to withstand extreme pressures andtemperatures.

Chemical cuts do not require the pipe to be "torqued up" asnecessary for a String Shot Back-Off. Sometimes pipe willrotate freely, even though it cannot be pulled, making it impos-sible to back off pipe. In this situation, a Chemical Cutter canbe run to recover the pipe.

Mechanical ServicesX-SpanTM Casing and Tubing PatchesWood Group Logging Services utilizes Owen OilToolʼs X-SpanTM technology, in its casing and tubing patcheswhich provide a permanent seal over perforations, splits, corrosion and/or leaks in all types of tubulars. These patchescan be run in any type of well including horizontal, multi-lateral, slim hole, monobore or geothermal.

The multi-dimensional metal-to-metal X-SpanTM seal is ratedfor all well temperatures and conditions, yielding the highestburst and collapse pressure ratings in the industry. The X-SpanTM casing patch is a one trip system saving time andmoney and can be run in extended lengths in excess of 200feet. The X-SpanTM is the only system that can be “purposebuilt” using premium alloys and/or customized for well restrictions or increased pressure ratings.

The Tubing/Casing Patch consists of three basic components:a top soft metal element; a tubular extension; and a bottomsoft metal element. Various patch lengths can be obtained byadding tubular extensions.

WGLS highly recommends the use of a casing scraper beforepatch installation to rid the interval of foreign matter. Also recommended is the use of a casing caliper to provide anaccurate record of casing ID and condition.

They are specially designed to pass through small restrictions andset/seal securely in larger ID tubing, refer to the plug detailsand plug specifications in the following paragraphs. This capability can save time and money.

Magna Range Plugs have opposed case hardened slips located above and below a three-piece seal system. Their one-piece slips are designed to anchor securely, even in P-110casing. They are specially heat treated making them hard out-side for anchoring and soft on the inside for easy milling. Highexpansion metal back-up systems eliminate extrusion of sealelements at high temperatures and pressures. Ribbed conesdirect the slips to assure plug centralization and evenly spacedslip segments against the ID of the pipe. A ratchet lock ringretains the setting force applied to the slips and seal system tomaintain a constant hydraulic seal.

PSP's stout bi-directional anchor fixes the plug in place until it is intentionally released and pushed to the bottom.

PSP has more seal-to-casing engagement length than anyother high-expansion plug with equal run-in diameter.

PSP is available in two basic models, i.e., standard andreleasable. The Standard Model is a permanent plug. TheReleasable Model can be unset via a release tool. Once released, the PSP falls to the bottom or is pushed to the bottom.

The plug is used for zone isolation, well stimulation, or wellhead repair and can be lubricated in and out of the wellunder pressure, thus eliminating the need for killing the well.

The plug features a combined retrieving neck and equalizingvalve located directly above a multiple element packing sys-tem. Caged, one-piece slips are located below the packing and firmly anchor the plug against pressure differentials fromabove or below.

Description

This easily transported tool string, designed for use whereaccess is restricted, is also available at 1-3/8” diameter with asimilar short length. The basic string, with Flow, Temperature,Capacitance, Gamma, Pressure & CCL sensors, can be usedfor memory or surface readout operations; it can be extendedto include other Wood Group tools and will operate a variety of flowmeter mechanical sections.
