From the Principal

Wood Family,

I have enjoyed the opportunity to participate in several activities over the past fewweeks, including Science Night, Second Grade Field Day, and the very end of theChoir performance at the Levitt Pavilion. I have really enjoyed the warm welcomeI have received from all the parents. I look forward to getting to know many moreof the Wood families soon.

When I get more information on the construction that will take place at Wood,including timelines for different areas, I will publicize it. I know many of you areexcited about the changes to the building which will make it a more modernlearning environment for our students. For those who have not heard much aboutit, that includes a more secure entrance, two science labs, and an entirely newlibrary.

Finally, the School Board appointed Kasie Longoria as the new Assistant Principalat Wood. After going through the interview process with Mrs. Longoria, I knowshe will make an excellent addition to Wood. She comes to AISD with two yearsof experience as an AP in Dallas ISD, and she was a teacher in Wylie ISD. She islooking forward to getting to know the Wood family, so please help her feelwelcome.

Volunteers of the Month - MayJaime James has been named one of ourVolunteers of the Month for May 2016! She has been Wood PTA’s Treasurer for severalyears, and we would be lost without your attentionto detail! Jaime’s Wood Wildcat is 3rd Grader, Jaley James. Congratulations, and thank you, Jamie, for yourgenerous service to Wood Elementary and PTA!

Alyce Monroe has been named one of ourVolunteers of the Month for May 2016. She is a fellow teacher at Lamar High School, andWood’s VP of PR for the past two years – thank youfor all the Wood Weekly Publications! Alyce’s Wood Wildcat is 4th Grader, BethanneMonroe. Congratulations, and thank you, Alyce, for yourgenerous service to Wood Elementary and PTA!
