TRASH SERVICE INFORMATION:

If payment is not made in full on or before April 15, 2019, trash service may be suspended and a $25.00

trash disconnect fee will be added to your account. When the account is brought current with assessments

and late fees, a trash reconnect fee of $25.00 will be required in order to reconnect trash.

GARAGE SALES

Each resident in good standing with the Association is entitled to hold two (2) garages sales per year; SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS ONLY. Residents must come to the Civic Association office before 5:00 pm on Thursdays prior to the requested date and provide a check or money order in the amount of $25.00 that will be refunded on the following Monday when the garage sale permit sign is returned to our office. Additional garage sale signs are allowed to be posted in the vicinity and must be removed on Sunday no later than 5:00 pm.

PROHIBITED ITEMS AT GARAGE SALES Garage Sales are not for the sale of new merchandise that has been purchased to be resold to the public. This would constitute conducting a retail business in a residential area, which is prohibited by our deed restrictions. These sales are for personal household items only and exclude the following items:

Cars & Trucks Boats RV’s Food

Animals of any kind Tractors (except normal lawnmowers, not exceeding 12 HP)

Are You Picking Up After Your Pet?

Besides being unsightly and smelly, animal waste can be hazardous to the health of our children who play in the

community and to other pets. One of the most common forms of disease transmission between dogs is through fecal

matter.

It is important to remember to immediately clean up after your pet. When walking your dog, take along a baggie

with you to pick up waste with and then dispose of it properly. Also, when walking your dog in our community,

remember that it must be leashed.

TREES IN WOODFOREST

Trees are our friends. As a result, our concern for their livelihood is passionate. Even dead trees

may not be cut down without prior written approval from the ACC committee of the Homeowners

Association, and we require the planting of new ones to take their place. Healthy trees may not be

cut down for any reason.

NEIGHBORHOOD SOCIAL EVENT IDEAS

Got an Idea for a Neighborhood Social Event? If you have an idea for neighborhood social event , we

want to hear it! The board is hoping to get residents to come up with some ideas for social events for

this year. Call or email our office with your idea. This is our community, lets get involved to make it

the best!

The Board of Directors- Serving the Best Interests for Woodforest

Most homeowner associations are self-governing, nonprofit organizations. The WCA’s board of directors is an all-

volunteer group elected by the residents of the association. The board of directors must abide by the By-laws, CC&R’s

and Legislative Laws required of them. They receive advice from professionals such as attorneys, insurance agents,

and managers. In all their actions, they must decide on what is in the best interest for the association and the com-

munity. The association’s board of director’s is mandated to enforce the rules by several governed documents.

Governing documents of HOAs usually include:

THE BYLAWS– Which dictate the powers and duties of the Board of Directors.

LEGISLATIVE LAWS– Supersede our By-laws & CC&R’s.

CC&RS (Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions) Which dictate the powers and duties of the association and

regulate both the physical characteristics of the community and the style of its residents and neighborhood. In

addition to the primary responsibilities of the board, the WCA office has staff to assist and better the community as

well. The WCA staff and board are working together to make the Woodforest Community the best it can be.

SPRING CLEANING

As spring weather approaches and it warms up, March is the perfect time to get outside and get

started on spring cleaning. After being cooped up for the cold winter, its time to get outside and

take on your annual yard maintenance. Yards require regular maintenance by mowing as well as

edging the hardscapes of curb, driveways, and sidewalks. Also, don't forget flower beds require

care and maintenance. Your cooperation is appreciated in taking time to make your yard attractive.

PARKING OF VEHICLES

(In accordance with Amended Rules & Regulations – Section 3.04 (2) (a-b)

Street congestion is an ongoing issue on numerous streets. Street parking is one of the easiest rules to abide by; yet it seems to be

a consistent problem that is reported daily. This is just one requirement of living within a deed restricted community. Applicable

deed restrictions are paraphrased below:

*Parking of vehicles on the grass or lawn is strictly prohibited.

*Parking of ALL vehicles are limited to driveways and garages only.

*No vehicle shall EVER be parked as to block other neighbors from accessing their driveways.

*No vehicle shall park on the street for a period longer than twelve hours.

WHEN SHOULD I CALL THE POLICE?

We want to remind all residents how important it is to call the police for emergencies. The following is

a guide for when to call 911 to report emergencies.

You should only call 911 in an emergency. It is appropriate to call in circumstances where:

You hear or witness a shooting

An intruder is in your home

You or your neighbors house is on fire

You witness or are involved in a car accident

There is a crime in progress

Someone becomes dangerously ill

Someone is choking

Someone is unconscious

Someone is drowning

You see a sparking electrical hazard

Any threat of immediate danger

It is important that you call 911 in urgent emergency situations only. If you call 911 unnecessarily , or for a non-emergency, you might be tying up the operator's time while he or she could be providing assistance to someone who

is in a life-threatening situation.

HARRIS COUNTY HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE

HHW collection services are free to residents of Harris County. Harris County provides residents the ability to dispose

of household chemicals and other hazardous household items used in their homes in the most cost efficient, safe and

environmentally compliant manner.

HCSO CRIME PREVENTION EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

The following programs/presentations are available to residents of Harris County. To schedule a program/

presentation please contact the Community Service Division at 713-759-9454. Please schedule with plenty advance

notice and allot approximately 1 hour for the presentation. Other program lengths may be tailored for specific

audiences.

Citizen’s Police Academy:

The Citizen’s Police Academy is a thirteen (13) week program designed to give the participants a working knowledge of the

Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Through this program, citizens gain a better understanding of law enforcement and see “how

and why” deputies arrive at some of the decisions made in the course of their duties.

Personal Safety Programs:

R.A.D. “Rape Aggression Defense” (15 hrs.) - A comprehensive course for women including awareness, prevention, risk

reduction and avoidance, as well as hands-on defense training.

Home Safe and Security:

Home Inspections (1-2 hrs.):

Onsite inspection of doors, windows and locks.

Identity Theft (1-2 hrs.):

This program will advise you of the risks of identity theft and educate you with tools and resources to lower your risks of

becoming a victim.

Children’s Programs:

L.E.O. “Law Enforcement Officer’s Custom I.D. Kit”:

Inkless child fingerprinting system that provides a picture I.D. that can be used in the event a child goes missing.

Dine With a Deputy:

A deputy will visit the school during the children’s lunch hour. This allows elementary school children to become familiar with

and become at ease with law enforcement.

Latch Key Kids:

Safety techniques and basic survival tips are taught to children who come home after school to an empty home without an

adult present.

Senior Safety Programs:

Personal Safety (1-2 hrs.):

A discussion on personal safety while at home or out and about, as well as a discussion on scams, con artists, identity theft,

and more.

Frauds and Scams (1-2 hrs.):

A course on learning to identify the different types of frauds and scams so that you can lower your risks of falling victim to

these con artists and their schemes.

Emergency/Disaster Preparedness (1-2 hrs.):

Discussions on types of emergencies and/or disasters you may encounter and what you can do to prepare.

Additional Programs:

Coffee With a Cop (1-2 hrs.):

Coffee with a Cop is an opportunity for the public to meet with officers in a comfortable environment and talk about any

subject, from crime trends, neighborhood nuisance issues, public safety management, and how to join their team. You bring

the questions, talk with an officer, and get a free cup of coffee.

NEIGHBORHOOD VENDOR REFERRALS The WCA office has a reference book of local companies the residents can voluntarily use for projects at home.

These vendors provide services such as landscaping, painting, plumbing, tree removal, roofing and general

contractors. If you have had a project done and would like to refer a company in good standing, please contact

the WCA office to include in our records. If you own a local business and would like to refer your company you

can also complete the reference paperwork and return it to the WCA office.
