As a stand-alone piece, the turned canister from Woodsmith No. 223 is an attractive and useful project. But if you’d like to build the entire complementary set, then this elegant bowl is the perfect place to start. And the best part is, you already know exactly how to build it if you’ve completed the medium-size canister.
short & wide. The only difference is that the staves for the bowl are shorter and slightly wider than the original canister. With that in mind, simply follow the same procedure as before to complete the bowl. When it comes time for turning the bottom and the bowl opening to shape on the lathe, you can even use the same mounting disc as before. After that, apply the finish and let it cure. It makes a great decoration or even a serving dish for snacks.

Utensil Holder
Online Extra
If you’ve come this far and built the first two pieces of the turned set, you may as well complete the trio with the companion utensil holder you see here. At this point in the game, you’re pretty much an expert at this.
just taller. As you can see by the drawings on this page, the utensil holder is simply taller than the original canister. All other dimensions and procedures are the same. When it’s all finished, fill it with your most often used kitchen utensils, or it could even be used to arrange a dried flower display. W
