As a creative person in long-term recovery, I know that some of the most challenging obstacles we face are
feelings of hopelessness and the fear of not being able to return to a productive, creative lifestyle without the
assistance of drugs and alcohol.
Years ago, I recognized the need for a unique approach that would combine evidence-based treatment and
creative expression. Today, Right Turn helps people achieve quality recovery while taking into consideration
that substance abuse and other addictions might be a symptom of an underlying mental health or
psychological issue.
Right Turn is an innovative program for men and women that provides Intensive Outpatient Treatment,
4-6 month Extended Care Housing Program for men, Medication Assisted Treatment and Intervention, in a uniquely
creative environment. Anyone with a desire for artistic expression, recovery from addictions and the support
of a kindred community will feel welcome here.
Welcome to Right Turn. We look forward to helping you find your own path to recovery.
Woody Giessmann LADC-I, CADC, CIP, CAI, CEO and Founder of Right Turn
A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO AND FOUNDER
“As the drummer for the rock band, The Del Fuegos, I experienced firsthand the devastating effects of drug and alcohol abuse. Fortunately, my path led to recovery, and to a new passion as an Addictions Specialist.“
Our experienced team includes:
“I like my job because people get better. I get to see people at their best.” Clinical Director of Right Turn since 1995, Abby’s professional training is rooted in social work, public health and psycho-therapy. She carries a principle vision to create a program where people
feel a sense of community. Abby believes that all individuals deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and that developing individual creativity serves as a cornerstone of recovery. Gabrielle (Abby) Dean, LICSW, MPH, Clinical Director
“For whatever reason, I was attracted to working with those people who are most marginalized in our society, and, arguably (in fact, there is probably not much of an argu-ment!), that is people with addictions. I think that much of the time I believe that people get better
despite what I try to do! Perhaps what is most help-ful is my hopefulness about their recovery.” Mark attended Harvard College and Cornell University Medical School. He completed an internship in medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, and a Psychiatry residency at Massa-chusetts Mental Health Center. The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology certify him in General Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry.Mark Albanese, M.D., Medical Director

EXTENDED CARE HOUSING PROGRAMFOR MEN
Right Turn’s 4 - 6 month Extended Care Housing Program offers residents
the opportunity to establish healthy, sober relationships, within a safe, struc-
tured, and supportive environment. Clients are provided with comprehensive
services while enrolled in the Extended Care Housing Program, with full evalu-
ation and on-going care for psychiatric health, internal medicine, addiction
counseling, group therapy, one-on-one therapy, and self-help groups. Our two
facilities can accommodate up to 16 residents. Each offers a safe setting of
recovery in a beautifully renovated, historic New England house.
This home-like setting offers semi-private rooms with access to outdoor gar-
dens and areas for quiet reflection. Budgeting, housekeeping, self-care, menu
planning, and healthy meal preparation are among the life skills that we work
to rebuild. Health and wellness, nutrition, and daily exercise are included with
an on-site exercise room and local gym membership. Right Turn upholds the
highest standard of respect for people within our community, ensuring that the
Extended Care Housing Program is safe at all times for all individuals.
SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE Clients in our Extended Care Housing Program are provided
with comprehensive care in psychiatry, internal medicine, and
addiction counseling. Throughout their time in the program,
clients are supported in identifying and achieving
manageable goals with respect to education,
occupation, and family.

Located at 440 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA, this three to six month early recovery program
provides clinical services and structure for life in sobriety. Groups take place daily, Monday through
Friday. Individuals attend gender specific groups, receive weekly individual therapy, evaluations by our
physicians, family services, and are provided with resources in addiction education, relapse prevention,
anger management, wellness, yoga, nutrition, and expressive workshops that are unique to our program.
Our creative approach incorporates music, visual arts, creative writing, and other expressive therapies to
access the individual in a valuable way. Art serves as a language for communicating covert feelings and
exploring the fun side of recovery. We are skilled in treating a wide range of conditions, including chemical
abuse and dependence, process addictions, trauma, depression, anxiety, and other related disorders.

INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT PROGRAM (IOP)
5 days a week - 4 hours a day
Intervention is the process of helping family members and friends find the
help they need along with a safe treatment program for their loved ones who
are struggling with addiction or mental illness. Woody Giessmann is a Certified
ARISE Interventionist (CAI) and Certified Intervention Professional (CIP) and
Licensed Clinician (LADC) for the treatment of substance abuse and mental
health disorders.
The goal of the intervention is to get the person who is struggling with
addiction and/or mental illness into treatment. Woody works with the family
members in the selection of a safe and appropriate program, making all
arrangements for treatment. Additionally, Woody takes care of all practical
objectives, assists in packing the appropriate belongings, and coordinates all
travel arrangements, ensuring that the person arrives at the selected program
on the day of the intervention.
Intervention Services
To help people with their sobriety, our Outpatient Clinic offers a full range of supportive services.
These services are critical for successful recovery – completing a treatment program alone does
not ensure freedom from addiction. People beginning a new way of drug-free living are frequently
presented with challenges and temptations. This start of a sober life requires new ways of thinking
and coping, feeling connected to the recovery community, sober support groups, and constant
vigilance. Recovery is an on-going process, and the connection to after-care services provided
by our Outpatient Clinic is an important part of this process.
Outpatient Clinic Services include: • Psychiatry
• Individual Therapy
• Family Therapy
• Self-help Meetings & Support Groups
• Workshops
• Anger Management
• Relapse Prevention
medication assisted treatment (mat) programRight Turn provides a weekly program for people struggling with alcohol, opiate, and other addictions.
Along with psychosocial treatments such as therapy, group therapy, family services, psychiatry and self-help groups,
adjunct medication has been shown to be useful in reducing drinking or opiate use, and for maintaining sobriety.
The Right Turn MAT Program meets on Wednesdays from 9am to 1pm at 440 Arsenal Street in Watertown.
Right Turn provides individual and group therapy under the medical direction of Mark Albanese MD, and Clinical
Director Abby Dean LICSW. Our clinical staff will coordinate care with any referring physician, or other care
providers, in order to fully meet the needs of our clients.

At Right Turn, our approach incorporates family coping skills and strate-
gies to ensure a better outcome. We understand that substance use, and
other disorders, cause stress, confusion, and anxiety for family members.
To address these issues, Right Turn’s family specialists offer an array of
services designed to educate family members about addiction and
mental health along with a bi-weekly family support group, monthly
family workshop and family sessions with a therapist.
