Introduction

It used to be normal to that we all lived together as an extended family and we took care of each other.

Today we live more on our own and we don’t take that much care anymore. The Government of Holland want to change that.

The history of Unpaid Care

◦VPB Park Management Business Parks Emmen More than 300 companies 11,000 employees +/- 1400 informal Carers

◦Drenthe, a lot of small business 100 thousand unpaid Carers

Who is the VPB?

England & Wales 56 million inhabitants => 5.8 million Unpaid Carers (Source: BBC)

The Netherlands 16.8 million inhabitants=> 2.6 million Unpaid Carers

Unpaid Care can be an extra job

Why?

Government’s role is diminishing A sick employee costs € 200,000 each year

Why?

Employees keep them healthy How? Welfare, Insurance Companies◦Support the Unpaid Carers
