Summary and Conclusions
Wallbridge Mining Company has acquired a two-unit claim in the southwest corner of Garson Township. A preliminary geological mapping exercise was conducted over a five-day course in an attempt to locate and identify "Sudbury" type breccia, which Wallbridge believes is an indicator that would possibly lead to economic mineralization.
The mapping parameters were for the most part bound to the north where the outcrop was abundant. The south half of the claim has little exposure due to lowland and the Timber Wolf Golf Course. Three minor zones of breccia have been identified and mapped in the northern part of the claim. Samples of these breccias were taken for both assay and petrography and will be compared to breccias of other Wallbridge properties that contain these breccias of interest.
The assays reveal insignificant mineralization, which suggest any further examination of the property will be of no benefit for the company. However, the completion of detailed mapping in the area may be of interest in regards to the lithology in the area.
Location and Access
The Wallbridge claim 1222978 is located in the most part of Lot 12 l Con l in the southwest corner of Garson Township. Access can be gained either from the Timber Wolf Golf Course west of Falconbridge Road or along a north-northeast snowmobile trail located at the end of the Barrydowne Road near the intersection with Maley Drive.
Geology
The property to the north is mostly comprised of bedded argillite and interflow metasediments of the McKim Formation. Evidence of slumping and reworking are observed. There are minor quartzite and conglomerate beds, with bedding thickness' varying between 1-2 meters. There is also a northeast trending band of undifferentiated ryholite belonging to the Copper Cliff Formation. Pillowed basalts, exhibiting tops to the northeast, are in contact with coarse-grained gabbro s which are up to 2-3 meters in thickness.
The breccias zones observed are oriented sub-perpendicular to the lithologies which trend northeast at 0600 . The breccias could be described as being of an intermediate, re- crystallized texture. The sub angular to rounded fragments within the breccia are composed primarily of sediment with some granitic material and they vary in size from tiny to l meter in diameter.
Mineralization in the breccias occurs as trace sulfides. The sulfides are pyrite which is greater than chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite, however, blebs of pyrite and pyrrhotite are occasionally observed. The gabbroic rocks contain minor amounts of fine disseminated pyrite and pyrrhotite. Localized sulphide burns are common, typically along fracture planes.
Previous Work History
Much of the previous exploration has been in the northern half of Garson Township with minor, disjointed activity throughout the southern half. We found no record of assessment work on this claim. The Garson Mine property, two kilometres to the northeast, has proven to be of the most economic significance. It has produced copper-nickel-platinum group elements from 1904 to the present. Other minor copper nickel sulphides occur east of this claim.
