Work Safely at Heights
Designed for:
Work Safely at Heights training is designed for people
who undertake routine procedures involving roofs,
ladders, poles and towers, elevated platforms, and
above and around openings.
The course exposes students to a broad range of height
risk situations so they learn to instinctively apply the
correct safe working procedure. It allows students to
work at heights competently and confidently using
applicable fall protective equipment.

Pre-entry requirements:
Students must be physically capable of climbing a
ladder safely, maintaining three points of contact.
They will also need the required literacy and numeracy
skills to complete workplace documentation and
communicate in a safe workplace.
Assessment:
Learning outcomes will be assessed using practical
activities and written questions as appropriate.
Description:
This unit covers working safely at heights in the
resources and infrastructure industries. It includes:
identifying work requirements, work procedures and
instructions for the task; accessing and installing
equipment; performing work at heights; and cleaning
up the work area.
Students will gain knowledge in:
The names and functions of equipment,
components and materials
Equipment manufacturer’s instructions and
specifications
Safe shifting and handling of tools and materials
Statutory and regulatory authority requirements
The nature of work undertaken at heights
Height safety systems
Safe working practices.
