The verb form is known as the progressive participle. The present or past progressive is determined by the tense of the helping verb “estar” that is with it. It is formed by dropping the infinitive ending and adding -ando, or -iendo,. Its purpose is to emphasize an on-going action. Also if an er or ,-ir stem ends with a vowel the –ing ending becomes _________________ so long as you have three unstressed, sounded vowels. My sister is carrying the food. 13. Marta and José are dancing. 14. We are eating pizza.
