1.0 BACKGROUND

The purpose of this seminar to be held is to give knowledge about action

research in education. This seminar will also cover on the planning,

conducting, analyzing, interpreting the data, and ways to do documentation on

the foundings of action research in a report or action research working paper.

This seminar is an exposure to Action Research 1 – TESL (Methodology)

(TSL 3113) subject which is one of the subjects taken by the semester 7

trainee teachers.

2.0 RATIONAL

This seminar is going to be held to give early exposure and hands on

knowledge to trainee teachers about action research especially in English

subject. Through this seminar, trainee teachers can get a picture on what they

need to do when they are doing an action research.

3.0 OBJECTIVES

3.1 Explain on different methods in education research and its’

application in English subject.

3.2 Explain on the basic knowledge of a research including the types of

education research, the planning of an action research, the procedure

and the ethics of research in English subject.

3.3 Analyze the current issues in English subject through action research.

3.4 Apply the basic knowledge and the process of action research in

English subject.

3.5 Design one action research that includes the methods of research,

the procedure in collecting data, analyzed data and interpreted data.

3.6 Get the skill in writing proposal for action research, research report

and article for journal in English subject.

6.0 FOCUS OF THE SEMINAR

6.1 Methods in identifying the problem or an issue that is relevant to the

research in English subject.

6.2 Seminar on the process of collecting and analyzing data while

completing an action research in English subject.
