SRC BOOK OF THE WEEK
Leaving it to you is a very moving story about a girl named Linda who visits an old persons home on a school trip. It does have a sad ending but is a great read. I rate it:
P&C Spellathon Spellathon has been running in our school for over 20 years and many thousands of dollars have been raised. Coonabarabran Public School will be involved again this year. There will be a maximum of 50 words to learn and students will be given time to learn these words before being tested on Thurs-day 14th June 2012. Each student will be given a sponsor sheet to seek sponsorship. Sponsorship is on the basis of a donation or so much per word spelt correctly. The sponsor sheet needs to be returned to their class teacher on Thursday 14th June 2012. They will then be tested on their words and the re-sults will be recorded for each student and marked on their sponsor sheet. Students are asked NOT to approach Infants students to sponsor them or any-one that would not comprehend what is being asked of them. The winning class will win $100 to be spent as they like. The two students who raise the most money will receive a $40 open order each, donated by Acacia Motel. Students who bring in over $50 will be entered into a grade draw to win a $10 canteen voucher. There will also be grade draws for students who bring in more than $20 and have not won a prize. Their prize will be a $2 canteen voucher. Teachers may reward students with school merit awards for their efforts. Spelling Bee will also again run this year. (more information to follow)

1A CLASS FOCUS
1A have been very busy , learning new and exciting things this term. In literacy lessons we are focusing on Fairytales from different countries and enjoying the many variations of familiar Fairytales such as, The Three Little Bush Pigs and The Three Kangaroos Gruff. We even made up our own Fairytale!
The Three Little Dinosaurs
Once Upon a time there were three little dinosaurs. Their names were Rock Star, Ruby and Jet. They were desperate to make friends with the big bad dinosaur, T-Rex. So they packed up and decided to visit T-Rex in his cave. The first little dinosaur called Rock Star, walked slowly into the cave. “Please T-Rex will you be my friend?” Asked Rock Star. “No” said the T-Rex, “I will not be your friend, I eat little dinosaurs just for fun.” So the first little dinosaur said “Help” and ran away. Next the second little dinosaur Ruby, walked slowly into the cave . “Please T-Rex will you be my friend?” “No” roared the T-rex . “I will not be your friend, I eat little Dinosaurs just for fun”. So the second little Dinosaur said, “Help” and ran away. After that, the third little Dinosaur, Jet, walked slowly and bravely into the cave. “please T-rex will you be my friend?” asked the third little dinosaur. “No” roared the T-Rex. “I eat little dinosaurs just for fun”. So the third little dinosaur was about to say “Help”, when the T-Rex said. “Hang on, If I eat you and your friends, there will be no more little dinosaurs left.” So the T-Rex put his sharp claws around the little dinosaur and said “come and share my cave, I would LOVE you to be my friend....” So the Little Dinosaurs went into the cave one by one and they all lived happily ever after.............we think!!!!!!
Story written by 1A
Last week we had some very interesting news from Sophie Bunting. Sophie and her brother Josh brought in their pet Hermit Crabs for everyone to admire. We listened attentively when
both Josh and Sophie explained to us the day to day care that is required to keep them. Then we wrote a report about the hermit crabs and published them in computer time.
