COURSE DESCRIPTION

This Demonstrate Initiative & Enterprising Behaviours module is designed to help the individual function effectively as an independent thinking adult in the workplace and focuses on the importance of initiative and enterprise in the context of his/her work scope, responsibility, accountability, authority and expertise.

This programme focuses on how an individual can demonstrate innovation and initiative to initiate and sustain continuous improvement at the workplace while identifying, evaluating and managing risks associated with innovating and taking initiative at an individual level.

LEARNINg OUTCOmES

Participants will experience and learn to:

1. Show initiative in identifying opportunities and goals for continuous improvement in workplace performance

2. Discuss with stakeholders on potential areas and/or practices for innovation at the workplace

3. Demonstrate innovative and enterprising behaviours to improve business performance in accordance with regulatory requirements and ethics

4. Review new initiatives for possible risks and recommend corrective actions and an appropriate strategy to deal with identified risks

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Be it at the shop floor, factory or office, an employee is confronted daily with a variety of problems or issues that need to be resolved. An employee that is able to effectively manage and solve workplace problems will definitely be an asset to the organisation.

This programme focuses on how an individual can acquire the techniques in problem-solving and decision-making, including proactively identifying root causes to a problem, generating and evaluating alternative solutions, making appropriate decisions, and taking responsibility for the decisions within own circle of influence.

LEARNINg OUTCOmES

Participants will experience and learn to:

1. Recognise symptom(s) that could lead to potential problem(s) at the workplace

2. Identify deviations from organisational norm and SOPs based on symptom(s) identified

3. Identify the possible root cause(s) of the problem(s) using appropriate tools and techniques

4. Identify impact of the problem(s) on one’s job responsibilities and other parties involved

5. Generate and select ideas to solve the problem using creative and logical thinking

6. Evaluate selected ideas using pertinent criteria and choose the most desirable one(s) as solution(s) to the problem(s)

Apply 5S Techniques

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This programme will enable individuals to apply 5S procedures (a structured approach to housekeeping) to their own job and work area. This will include SEIRI (Clearing unnecessary items from work area), SEITON (Organising work area in an orderly manner), SEISO (Cleaning work area), SEIKESTU (Maintaining work area cleanliness) and SHITSUKE (Maintaining self-discipline in work area).

LEARNINg OUTCOmES

Participants will experience and learn to:

1. Conduct SEIRI in accordance with organisational pre-determined schedule

2. Check work area to correctly identify unnecessary items in accordance with organisational checklist

3. Label and segregate unnecessary items properly in work area in accordance with organisational procedures

4. Clear all unnecessary items from work area and place them at designated location or holding area

5. Dispose unnecessary items at designated location or holding area in accordance with organisational guidelines and procedures

6. Conduct SEIRI in accordance with organisational safety and health guidelines

This programme will enable individuals to be able to use effective communication techniques to interpret, clarify, analyse and respond to information received, and use effective negotiation skills to resolve conflicts for a win-win outcome, taking into consideration social and cultural differences.

WHO SHOULD ATTENDThe module is targeted at front-line workers at operations level, normally without any supervisory responsibility for others. Such workers may however be working in teams or be self employed. Some workers in supervising roles or in individuals in professional/talent positions without supervisory responsibilities and others may also find this module useful.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This programme will enable an individual to comply with workplace safety and health policies and procedures. These include follow safe work practices and risk control procedures; participate in workplace safety and health management activities; and follow workplace emergency response procedures.

LEARNINg OUTCOmES

Participants will experience and learn to:

1. Practise personal hygiene at workplace in accordance with the organisational procedures

2. Use and maintain personal protective equipment required for the work in accordance with the organisational procedures

3. Use and maintain workplace equipment and safety devices in accordance with organisational procedures or manufacturer’s instructions

4. Follow safety signs and instructions in workplace5. Follow workplace risk control measures in accordance with

the organisational procedures6. Report workplace safety and health issues to appropriate

person in accordance with the organisational procedures and Workplace Safety and Health Act

7. Identify and report potential hazards and risks associated within the work area in accordance with the organisational procedures

8. Report unsafe working conditions and work practices in accordance with the organisational procedures

9. Participate in resolving hazards and risks identified in the work area in accordance with the organisational procedures

10. Participate in identifying personal protective equipment requirements for the work in accordance with the organisational procedures

11. Participate in identifying safety device required for safe operations of machinery and equipment if any at the workplace

12. Participate in identifying information needed to handle workplace emergencies

13. Participate in workplace safety and health training14. React to the types of emergencies at the workplace15. Use equipment and materials required for workplace

emergency response in accordance with the organisational procedures

16. Activate emergency services in the event of emergency at the workplace in accordance with the organisational procedures

17. Follow the instructions given by authorised personnel in the event of emergency at the workplace

18. Participate in the organisational emergency response exercise in accordance with the guidelines provided by the relevant regulatory requirements

19. Follow infectious disease outbreak control at the workplace in accordance with the guidelines provided by the relevant regulatory bodies

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Develop Personal Effectiveness at Operations Level module facilitates the development of personal mastery competence so that individuals are able to demonstrate an ability to manage their lives and work with efficiency and efficacy. The module focuses on the development of life skills to be effective at work, as well as maintain a balance between work and personal responsibilities. It also addresses the skills needed for gaining and maintaining employment by relating to an organisation’s goals and priorities.

This programme will enable individuals to be able to apply knowledge and life skills such as establishing personal goals and relating them to team goals, managing time effectively, maintain work-life balance, managing stress as well as personal finances to be effective at the workplace.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This module enables candidates to understand the concept of spreadsheets and to demonstrate the ability to use a spreadsheet application. Candidates will understand and be able to accomplish tasks associated with developing, formatting, modifying and using a spreadsheet, in addition to using standard formulas and functions, and demonstrate competence in creating and formatting graphs or charts.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The first section on Web Browsing requires candidates to understand some of the concepts and terms associated with using the Internet, and to appreciate some of the security considerations. In the second section, Communication, candidates will learn to understand some of the concepts of electronic mail (e-mail), and gain the ability to use email software to send and receive messages, and to attach files to mail messages.

LEARNINg OUTCOmES

The first section, Web Browsing, enables candidates to learn about the Internet and to use a web browsing application. On completion of the Web Browsing section each candidate will be able to:

Understand what the Internet is and common terms associated with it. Be aware of some security considerations when using the Internet

Accomplish everyday web browsing tasks including changing browser settings

Search for information and complete and submit web-based forms

Save web pages and download files from the web. Copy web content into a document

The second section, Communication, enables candidates to understand some of the concepts of electronic mail (e-mail) and know about other communication options. On completion of the Communication section each candidate will be able to:

Be aware of network etiquette and security considerations when using e-mail
