How do you handle working alongside a noisy neighbor in the office? What are the best chairs for a call center? How can a worker get the most from her time on a commuter train?

Work is much more than sitting at a desk or tapping away at a computer. Yes, the office remains the hub of what we call work, but it also happens at home, on the subway or airplane, in a far-flung hotel room or a nearby coffee shop. And work is being shaped by products that make the worker more efficient, comfortable, happy and connected. Workplaces Magazine follows everything that makes work happen, from the latest ergonomic office chair to the hottest mobile phone. Yet it is about much more than products.

Midpoint is a monthly magazine focused specifically on the dealer and rep community. Midpoint will be 100% dealer/rep focused. That gives us a lot more latitude in what we publish. For example, news about a dealer collecting canned goods for a local food bank probably wouldn’t rise to the level of news for Business of Furniture, but it would definitely be included in Midpoint.

Midpoint is produced in partnership with INDEAL, the dealer group that has grown from a purchasing group to the de facto dealer organization in the industry. It is an exciting time to be an industry dealer or rep and the changes and challenges to this segment of the industry seem to crop up everyday.

It happened in the early 1970s with the advent of open plan systems furniture. By the year 2000, office furniture had grown into a $13 billion industry comprised of more than 400 manufacturers and a distribution channel of over 3,000 dealers. Today, “office furniture” is evolving again, this time from a cubicle-based environment to a shared, sometimes communal space, with less furniture but more function. To-day’s new office design will be a major focus of corporate strategic planning for the next decade.

Interior designers, specifiers, facility managers and corporate end-users now realize their choice of furniture - and their ability to plan, purchase and manage it effectively - can dramatically im-pact the outcome of their corporate initiatives.

For years, the contract furnishings industry’s idea of how to cover itself was through trade publications such as Interior Design and Con-tract magazine. Publications were not viewed as strategic. Most were boring and had little useful information about the business of the office / contract furnishings industry.

The increasingly critical role of office planning - driven by some of today’s hottest concepts - has forever changed the way interior designers and facility managers choose, specify, purchase and manage furniture and related services. Facility managers, end-users, specifiers, interior design-ers and even dealers and manufacturers need a source of objective, comparative and holistic information to help them make informed deci-sions in this complicated and changing corporate environment. In addition, new issues including sustainability, benching and distributed work have increasingly made their way into the vocab-ulary of the office furniture industry.

We deliver a platform to reach facility managers, specifiers, interior designers, reps and dealers who seek insightful, strategic coverage of the contract furnishings industry as a front-and-center concern. We cover the industry from a strategic point of view, concentrating on quality analysis and independently written articles, helping you understand the business better.

MIDPOINT MAGAZINEMidpoint is 100% dealer/rep focused, allowing for much more latitude in what is

published in each issue. For example, news about a dealer collecting canned goods for a local food bank wouldn’t rise to the level of news for Business of Furniture, but it would definitely be included in Midpoint. There is no other dealer publication, especially since the OFDA shifted focus more toward the office products side of the industry. At the same

time, important news in the dealer community is being lost - but not anymore!

Midpoint is named for when it arrives in your inbox. The publication comes out each month on the 15th — the midpoint of the month.

Midpoint is filled with information for and about dealers and reps. Think of best practices that can be shared, innovative projects and deal-er involvement in them, charity and community work and columns on

things like installation, succession planning, technology and more.

COLLECTIVE • INDUSTRY • INTELLIGENCE

Midpoint could not have happened without the help and encouragement from our friends at INDEAL, the dealer group that has grown from a purchasing group to the de

facto dealer organization in the industry.
