Synopsis This is the story of three little pigs that lived with their mother. One day their mother tells them that they must go out and build their own houses, but that they must be very careful of the big, bad wolf. So the Three Little Pigs go out to look for different materials with which to build their houses. As all the pigs have different characters, they all choose different materials to use. Tom is lazy and chooses straw to build his house with straw, because it is light and easy to carry. He finishes his house quickly and then goes to sleep. Lucy chooses wood because it looks nice. She makes a very pretty house then sits down to watch television. Ben chooses bricks because he knows the house has to be strong to protect him from the big bad wolf. The bricks are heavy and the house takes longer to build. When he has finished, he is happy with his house. Along comes the wolf, Wolfie Brown. He is hungry and is looking for his favourite food to eat… PIG!!. First he finds the straw house, which he blows down very easily. Tom runs to shelter in Lucy's house. But the wolf follows him and finds the wooden house, which he quickly blows down too. The pigs run to Ben’s house for shelter. When the wolf arrives there, he can’t blow it down because it is too strong, so he decides to climb down the chimney. But the pigs have built a fire and the wolf runs away with his tail on fire.

WHICH HOUSE IS THE STRONGEST Practice vocabulary, comprehension, speaking and writing.
WORKSHEET 10 Review the vocabulary with the students. Tell them what each pig used to build the house: Tom used straw, Lucy used wood and Ben used bricks. Have them repeat the sentence. Now, they can link each pig with the correct house. Ask them what they think about the three different houses. Students from Cicle Inicial can also write the words on the lines. Say the sentences orally because some words differ: Tom used straw to build a straw house. Lucy used wood to build a wooden house. Ben used bricks to build a brick house. Answers: TOM-STRAW (HOUSE); LUCY-WOODEN (HOUSE); BEN-BRICK (HOUSE)
THE BOILING POT Practice vocabulary. Understand the ending of the story.
WORKSHEET 11 Tell the students that Ben wants to find the way to the pot with boiling water which will scare the wolf away. Students draw a line to get to the pot.
UP THE CHIMNEY Practice vocabulary. Understand the ending of the story.
WORKSHEET 12 Ask the students what they see in the picture: wolf, ladders, chimney. Teach the students the words “climb up / climb down” using the wolf and ladders as an example. Tell them the big bad wolf wants to get into Ben’s brick house, so he’s using the ladders to climb up quickly! With a dice, the students follow the numbers and take the wolf to the top of the chimney. If they get to a square with a ladder, the wolf climbs up the ladder and gets closer to the top. The first one to get to number 20 is the winner!
BINGO GAME Practice vocabulary.
WORKSHEET 13 Let’s play bingo! Print as many bingo boards as students. Each page has 3 boards. Use counters for marking the squares on each board. Review the vocabulary before playing. Then ask the students: “Who’s got (a)…?” They should answer “I’ve got (a)…” When one of the students fills a board they should shout “BINGO”!
