SPOILER ALERT!

The Hunger Games is a 2008 science fiction novel by the American writer Suzanne Collins. After an initial print of 200,000, the book had sold 800,000 copies by February 2010. Since its release, The Hunger Games has been translated into 26 languages, and publishing rights have been sold in 38 territories. The novel won many awards, including the California Young Reader Medal, and was named one of Publishers Weekly  's "Best Books of the Year" in 2008.

It is written in the voice of 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world. Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing

IF I COULD LIVE MY LIFE ALL OVER…If I had to live my life all over again, I’d dare make more mistakes next time. I would relax. I would limber up. I would be sillier than I have been this trip. I would take fewer things seriously. I would take more chances.

I would take more trips. I would climb more mountains, swim more rivers. I would eat more ice cream and fewer beans. I would perhaps have more actual troubles, but I would have fewer imaginary ones. You see – I’m one of those people who live seriously and sanely hour after hour, day after day. Oh, I have my moments. And if I had to do it over again, I’d have more of them. In fact, I’d try to have nothing else, just moments one after another, instead of living so many years ahead of each day.

I’ve been one of those persons who never goes anywhere without a thermometer, a hot water bottle, a raincoat and a parachute. If I had to do it over again, I would travel lighter than I have. If I had to live my life over, I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way later in autumn.

I would go to more dances. I would ride more merry-go-rounds. I would pick more daisies.

COMPLAINERS VS PROBLEM SOLVER

Marty Hijab has always wanted to invite his whole family over for the holidays, but his apartment is small, and his family is very large. “If I (1) _________________ them all for dinner, there (2)_______________________ enough room for everyone to sit down”, he told a friend. If Marty (3) ______________________ a complainer (a person that expresses annoyance or unhappiness), he (4) ________________ the size of his apartment and spend the holidays at his parent’s house. But Marty is a problem solver. This year he is hosting an open house. People can drop in at different times during the day, and there will be room for everyone.

“If life (5) _________________ a fairy tale, we (6) _______________ problems away”, noted therapist Sherry Grimes. “What complainers are really saying is, ‘If I (7) _____________ a magical solution, I (8) _______________________________________ with this myself’. I wish it (9) _________________________ that easy,” says Grimes. He gives an example of a very wealthy client who complains about his limited time for his family. He’s waiting for a miracle to give him the time he needs. But if (10)______________ about the problem creatively, he (10) ___________________ the time”, says Grimes.

Even the rich have limited time, money, and space. If complainers (12)_______________________ this, then they (13) ____________________________ that there will always be problems. They could then stop complaining and look for solutions. Marty is a student. If he (14) ________________________ on bigger apartment for his party, he (15) _______________________ for years before inviting his family over. Instead, he is creatively solving his problems right now. We have to learn to create our own good fortune and not wait for a genie with three wishes to come along and solve our problems.

______ Chile’s Bachelet takes on subway groping, says no to straying handsAccording to recent media reports, many Chilean women – and several men – have complained that Chile’s traditionally macho men have been taking advantage of the Metro’s near seven people per square meter density rate that makes it easy to “grope,” “harass,” or simply “cop a feel.”“Over the past few days, I have heard about this degrading harassment and groping that women – and some men I should add – are becoming victim to on the Metro,” said Bachelet, adding that she had instructed ministers within her government to prosecute those caught in the act.

______ Chile: in work but without shelterIt is early evening in central Santiago, and as the city’s workforce bustles home after another busy day, a small group of tired men gather outside an old university building. These workers are less fortunate than their colleagues; they have no home to go to, and are preparing to spend another night sleeping on the streets. But the truth is that while many of them work, most of them simply don’t earn enough to make ends meet

______Modern Parenthood: Roles of moms and dads converge as they balance work and family

The way mothers and fathers spend their time has changed dramatically in the past half century. To this respect, the public remains conflicted about what is best for children. Among all adults, only 16% say the ideal situation for a young child is to have a mother who works full time. A plurality of adults (42%)
