Soft Start Play in P1 is a timetabled part of the day. Every child has an opportunity to learn through play within the day. It is not just used as an activity for quick

finishers, but a valuable part of the school experience.

Talking and listening, rhyme, hearing sounds, listening to stories, predictions and use of imagination.

Foundation for reading and writing

Synthetic phonics methods – children learn how to use the letter sounds to read and write words.
