“Workshop on climate change and role of waste management on climate change”

On 19th December, 2018 department of BSC.IT organized workshop on “climate change and role

of waste management on climate change”. The workshop was started with introducing Mr. Shrikanth

Parab to the students and then he was felicitated by Mr. Chandrakant Borle (HOD of BSc IT department).

In the opening session Mr. Parab introduced the importance of studying that topic and why we should pay

attention towards it. He also explained the basic reasons which affect the climate and also explained the

effects of climate change like, increase in amount of green gases. change in average temperature of

atmosphere and melting of glaciers etc. He showed the pictures and video to make students aware about

the amount of waste accumulated in deonar dumping ground of Mumbai. Then he also presented the

problem faced by showing views of villagers who are situated near that dumping ground (like bad

atmosphere in the village, unhealthy condition of villagers and more).

He advised students to do segregation of dry and wet waste, so that dry waste will directly go for the

recycling process and wet waste will go for compost process and that will indirectly reduce the amount of

waste added in the dumping ground.

The complete session took around two hours and at the end of session Mr. Parab made students to

took pledge to reduce waste.
