About World Cities summit 2012The World Cities Summit (WCS) is an exclusive and premier platform for government leaders and industry experts to address liveable and sustainable city challenges, share integrated urban solutions and forge new partnerships.

Under the theme “liveable and sustainable Cities – integrated urban solutions”, the World Cities Summit 2012, in conjunction with the 5th Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) and the inaugural CleanEnviro Summit Singapore, explored how cities can build resilience and improve their quality of life and environment by adopting integrated solutions to increasingly complex challenges.

overview

1,203 delegates from 530 organisations,

representing 208 cities from 64 countries and regions

“WCS is definitely very useful to network with many high-level city representatives and learn about each city’s experiences and initiatives.”

– His Excellency Dr. Ali Yousif Abdulnabi Al-Shukri, Minister of Planning, Iraq

“Coming to WCS is very interesting because there’s a lot in common between the different cities, such as the challenges of transportation,

the balance between demand management and building new infrastructure, and hearing from different mayors talking about the

need to manage these factors has been very encouraging…”

– Her Worship Celia Wade-Brown, Mayor of Wellington, New Zealand

“As WCS becomes a market place of ideas...it is important that while we achieve certain successes, we must also be very humble and see how others do it…in the process, all of us are enriched.”

– George Yeo, Vice Chairman, Kerry Group Ltd
